Please forgive for bringing it up again, but any help would be appreciated.

I need to replace my prop. I cannot find much info on the prop I have.
I realize there are many variables.

maybe a ballpark number?

22 crusier, 80 hp yamaha. carries only 2 people plus supplys for camping.

both boat and motor are 2000 model.

WOT 5600 rpm

Thanks for any help.

James-

If you read through every post on every thread on prop selection for 75-90 hp motors, and Yamahas in particular, a

13 1/2" diameter X 15" pitch, three blade aluminum prop

is the most common workable prop, and usually fitted by most dealers.

A 17" pitch prop is too tall (too much pitch) for the way most folks load their boats, and limits your WOT to under 5000 rpm, and overloads/lugs the motor.

If you want stainless steel, the prop diameter will usually go up 1/8-1/4 ".

A 15" four bladed prop will give you a better hole shot and be smoother at slow displacement speeds, but will have a little less range to adapt at WOT as your loads lighten up.

Solas makes an excellent 15" pitch four blade aluminum prop for Yamahas, Hondas, etc.

These are the basics, others will chime in, I'm sure!

I'll let them discuss composition props and those with replaceable blades.

Joe.

I 've gone through the prop selection this year on my 81 22 ' fish model
I installed a new 90 yamaha . started with a 17 " and 5400 rpm
i now have a ss 16" prop and , i do not know where it came from but i now get about 5800 rpm , I will likley swap to a 15 " prop when i have finished all my interior modificatins this fall
It sounds like the 15 " is the right size for you Cheers Rick

I have a pair of BF40s. Somewhere I saw an analysis of optimum prop for C-Dory 22 Cruiser. Cannot find it. Does anyone have link? Or what do you advise? Thanks.
