So - who's up for a Lake Wash/Locks cruise on Dec. 15, 2007? Last year's was canceled due to high winds and really nasty weather but this year will almost certainly be better. Meet near Husky stadium around 9 or 10AM, cruise through the ship canal and through the locks. Return for lunch at Chinooks in fisherman's terminal.

Love to join you but I am committed to throwing a 90th birthday party for my mother that day...

We're in. That gives me nearly 2 1/2 months to get the electronics and trim tabs on. I'm slow, but not that slow. Smile

Have you noticed how lousy our summer was and how early fall came? I wouldn't count on the weather being better but what the heck, count us in anyhow. Wink

It'll be good to see you there. As to what I'm smoking - a bowl of optimism (I get it from Bill and El).

The maximum speed from Montlake Cut to the Chittenen Locks is 8 mph. Don't let lack of trimtabs (or electronics for that matter) keep you from coming!

If the weather is not to windy the 14th, 15th & 16th, I will plan on making it by boat. Can’t see myself driving to Seattle twice in one year.

Dave - my mom will be in town at the time so I can't offer you the guest room but I'd be happy to combine the fishing tackle shopping trip with the cruise date - e.g. we can go to Outdoor emporium after the cruise if we time things right. Also - maybe Larry Q will come up on one of those trips and you can ride with him and close your eyes to all the traffic....

Can I make a suggestion. Weather can drive the amount of people and enjoyment at scheduled gatherings. Would it be possible to put some gatherings on a sliding schedule. An example would be, Lake Washington gathering on the first good weekend from December 1st til the weekend of the 15th. I know people are busy that time of year but the weather can be a bear even on Lake Washington, just a suggestion.

We are in and How about a christmass decorating contest while we are at it. Susan will be hanging stuff all over my boat and I don't want to be the only one.

I'd like to participate if you'll let an Osprey into your gathering.

Also, FWIW that's right in the middle of the XMAS ship nightly parades:

http://www.argosycruises.com/themecruises/xmasSchedule.cfm

Saturday is a double-header: One cruise from 3:30 to 5:40, and the second from 7:45 to 10:05, both starting and ending in Kirkland. The second one shows a Laurelhurst stop at 9:25, which might actually be visible from the UW docks (I'm not sure exactly where that one is).

Fred - that sounds like a good idea but some of us can't always drop what we're doing when the weather is good. Also, I think we'll need reservations at Chinooks if we want a big table. What do others think? Schedule and hope for the best or leave it flexible as Fred suggests?

Tom - I think that's a great idea. We'll need a prize for the winner - BC do you have any of those freezer burnt smelt left? Regardless of the answer to that question, I can probably dig up some appropriate reward for the winner.

As far as I'm concerned, an Osprey is more than welcome to participate.

I'm hoping to be done by mid afternoon but if some wanted to you could watch the XMAS ship parade from on the water. Laurelhurst is near the UW so it would be viewable from near where we start at.

Roger

We will be there unless weather is really bad. Our first C-Brats gathering.
