Hi Folks,
I use to have carpet in the cockpit and cabin. I replaced the carpet in the cockpit with DRITEK, the same stuff SeaWolf uses. It keeps things much drier, but you have to pull it up and clean under it from time to time. I picked dark green and it gets a bit mushy in the hot sun, but not enough to worry about it. There are some industrial products that will do the same as DriDek. The advantage is that access water will run off under the DriDek to the sump hole at the stern.
For the cabin, I went to a carpet dealer, found remnants, and cut a piece of Orefen (polyester) for cheap money. I then cut it to fit. When water gets on it, it dries quickly. I run it through the washer and air dry it once a year. This makes it a little weak, so I replace it every three years or so. I have had dark green and black. Looks the same. Easy to maintain. I keep it clean with a plug in Vac.
