OK, I want to remove the 12v light fixture over the galley so I can tap in to the 12v circuit and put the tiny switch for my new cockpit LED lights there. Took the lens off, then loosened the two screws that appear to hold it to the cabin ceiling. The story of my life - screws are loose, but that sucker won't budge. Is it glued or something? How does it come off???? HELP!!!! _________________

Pat, my 22 Cruiser is a 1994 and I don't even HAVE a light over the galley. Would guess that there's some sort of 3M or equivalent product between the housing and the overhead though. Try a putty knife or a 6# sledge hammer
The former would be favored over the latter!! _________________ CHARLIE and PENNY CBRAT #100

I'll look at my boat in the morning and get back to you. You just need to tap into the wiring somewhere. Don't think you have to take apart the light(s). _________________ David and Kate

I could get 12v somewhere else, but I want to put the switch for the cockpit lights, which is a toggle switch, in the side of the fixture over the galley. That is why I need to get in there, plus it is neater to hide the wiring inside the fixture.
I ended up calling the C-Dory factory and talked to Buck. The fixture is not glued, if it is hard to remove it is because the gelcoat was not quite set up when they screwed the fixture on and it kind of sets into the gelcoat. I removed the screws entirely, removed the light bulb, and used a little screw driver to pop it off - it was stuck pretty good but I got it off with no damage.

That is exactly what I was going to tell you. I removed one of mine and found that the black rubber gasket that is in between the base and the roof was stuck to the roof. |

I am interested in installing led lights in the cockpit and around the cabin. What type of lights did you select and where did you place them?
