Went to Smith Island on Saturday, great trip, about 20 miles directly across the bay from the mouth of the Potomac. On the way back, I noticed a blinking red warning light on the port tach under the oil symbol. I shut it down, restarted, same light. No buzzer like you get when you start up. I thought it was a low oil warning light (level, not pressure) but I wasn't sure so I shut it down and came back on the starboard engine with no other ill effects.

When I lifted the cowl this afternoon, I saw that the level was there on the dipstick but was down near the bottom. There are two little drilled holes in the dipstick, I assume the lower one is the low level and the upper one the full one.

I have ordered the service manual but don't have the original owners manuals.

Can anyone with the bigger Suzis confirm my suspicions? I'll put in a quart tomorrow and see what that does but would kinda like to know for sure.

Charlie

Hello Charlie.
A BLINKING oil light means it is time for service. Change oil, oil filter and gear lube. You can kill the blinking oil light by removing the safety lanyard and pulling on the safety switch three times wtih the ignition on.
Good luck with your Suzuki's. They are great engines.

Charlie - you are probably right about the holes in the dip stick. Check the other engine and compare the oil level with the blinking one.

Charlie - one other thing. All oils are not created equal or the same. Unless you know the type and brand of oil in the engines, I would suggest you change it and when of if you need to add oil, only add the type and brand you used for the oil change. Mixing oils is not a good idea.

Capt. Jim has it right.

It is just time to change the oil, filter and possible the lower unit fluid.

Reset the alarm as mentioned above by Jim and enjoy.

Thanks all. Great news! Does anyone have two 90s/115s/140s and have an extra owners manual? I'd be willing to pay for it, none on e-bay and the suzi website isn't helpful..

Charlie,
I have a 2007 90 hp. I'd be happy to xerox the manual for you. I'll not be back on the boat until Saturday, but could put it in the mail next Monday.
