After reading various threads covering the C-series from Raymarine, I'm now looking at Furuno products. Anyone have experience or comments on the 585 Plus or 582L sounders? Or the 1724CNT radar/plotter?
Thanks. _________________ Rick & Shirley

I have the Furuno 1720 NavNet with C-Map. Radar, GPS and fishfinder all on one screen. Mine is 5 years old and I have not had any trouble with it.
Been thinking of getting the Sirius Weather add on. _________________ Roger

From experience, I know that if you have a problem with Furuno electronics equipment, you can march it into the head US office in Camas WA and get treated like a million dollar customer. Their customer service is unequalled. see thread- http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=4041
From word of mouth, I fished with a couple that have owned and operated a marine electronics store for many years. They are active boaters, sell Raymarine, Furuno and many others makes. When asked what the best electronics package for a small pleasure boat was, their answer was Furuno. They gave several reasons for it which I have forgotten but feel free to call them. Good folks & I swear know everything about marine electronics http://www.rodgersmarine.com/ _________________ Ken

We have used Furuno gear on the most of the long distance cruising boats and been very satisfied. The Radar and Fish finders have an excellent reputation.
If you go the commercial harbors (Fishing, and Tugs etc), or look at the large yachts---for the most part you will find Furuno electronics. _________________ Bob Austin

I personally know nothing about radar but my next door neighbor is a offshore tugboat captain. He's used them all and says that Furuno is the best as far as the radar portion goes. _________________ marvin |
