Good morning C-Brats. We have been lurking on your site for about a month now and think that you have a really great board as well as group of people here! We do not currently own a C-Dory but really hope to one day! We do have a small runabout (no names!!).
If we could ask for some expert advice we would really appreciate it on VHF handheld radios. We are looking at the Standard Horizon line and wonder if anyone had experience with this.
Thanks in advance and thanks for providing such a wonderful site and sharing with all!! We look forward to hopefully being involved with your outings once we are able to buy our dream boat!

I have one.
It saved my bacon when my main motor failed and my main radio was on the fritz.
Don't skimp. When you need one they are worth far more than any pricetag can reflect. _________________

Oh yea,... And welcome to the pub.
You better be careful... I didn't have a C-Dory when I inocently started mingeling with these guys. I can hardly wait to get back aboard mine now.
Come on out to a gathering and you will be changed for life, and I mean that in a good way. |

Thanks for the welcome!!
I think we are going to go to a few of the local places and see what features we really need, ease of use, etc. I think we will be buying one soon. I am reading quite a few good things about this brand so we will see.

Definite welcome to the Pub here Jeff and Julie!
Whether or not you have decided on a C-Dory, we hope you will join all of us at the Seattle Boat Show and the C-Brat Convention at the Factory, aka the SBS-CBC.....your neighbors in Puyallup here... also if you are interested in a group that has a private facility on the sound, let me know! _________________ Commodore Jim & Adm. Thanks Jim and Laurie. We are fairly new boat owners, although I am from Southeast Alaska and have been around boats most of my life. Back then, my Dad did everything and I wished I would have paid more attention! We hope to gain more experience with handling a boat this year.
We drove out to Jarrell Cove today because we saw that it was one of the cruises that the group had taken. What a beautiful place!
We will most certainly be going to the boat show in January and hope to meet many of you there!

No advice on the radio, we have an Icom handheld on board Daydream as a backup, not sure there is a huge difference among the brands.
Go to the SBS, crawl through the C-Dorys on display - that is what we did in January 2003. We had (as Catman seems to recall) a 16' Smoker Craft at the time but a SERIOUS hankering for a C-Dory when we first posted to the old C-Dog site... Now Daydream sort of rates up there a notch or two below the wife and kids, but definitely ahead of the job and the house...
You might plan on connecting with the group for lunch on the December 18 day cruise, follow the thread, not sure where it will be, maybe Shilshole, Maggie Bluffs at Elliott Bay Marina or even Fisherman's Terminal in Ballard - just follow the thread.
You will enjoy all the folks, this is a GREAT bunch, not sure why, except people who appreciate what a C-Dory is OBVIOUSLY have mutual good taste!
You do NOT need to wait to hook up with us until you buy your "dream boat"!

Thanks Pat for your post! I actually went to the factory yesterday in Auburn to look at the 22'. Unfortunately, I had my 3 year old with me so I couldn't spend as much time as I would have liked!
I was really impressed with how much useable space there is inside the 22'. This boat is definitely what we want to end up with eventually. First we will get our tow vehicle and then it is on to the boat!
