I just checked out a 1981 26 foot bayliner explorer today. Kind of a trophy top on a mostly-displacement hull. They were asking $5000 for it. It seemed surprisingly sound for its age/price. Although it suffers from all that furry liner so many manufacturers enjoy sticking on the walls.
I think the new trophies no longer carry the bayliner name because everyone "in the know" seems to hate bayliners.
I may buy the old bayliner and put some c-dory decals on it. |
Exactly....while you're shopping, can you please try to find a 1981 22 or 25 foot C-Dory for $5,000, and please let me know if you find one...I'll sell some stock for that one!

FYI, there is an '86 CD-22 for sale out of Oak Harbor for $16k listed here in the The Islands Weekly, the local San Juan County newspaper. _________________ Capt Jay |

One thing I really hate about bayliner and some other boats with bilges, is that they have maunal pumps. the last owner did not wire your boat that way , bayliner did. The bayliner that rolled over last year in the sound would not have if the bilge pump had been a auto. Why the coast guard allows this is beyond me. Worse idea in the world is to have a manual pump where you can not see the bilge. Just stupid and cheap. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

I'd be on that like white on rice if I was looking for a C-Dory! |

I do not know where you are but if I was in the market for a used 22, I would drive across the country for this boat.

Bayliner boats will serve the majority of Bayliner owners just fine. I have one and a CD22. The 22 is way better for the ocean and I think it is a better built boat. Time will tell though. The Bayliner I have is made from solid fiberglass and would go through the dock if you wanted to. It is built so solid and for a 16 footer, it is almost as heavy as our cd22s. However, it is a 1960....never put a floor in it. The new bayliners.....well I have no idea. However, I have heard absolute horror stories. |
