At 80 engine hours, my 2005 150 Honda began running very rough and wide open throttle dropped to 3800 RPM. With no trailer and the engine running too rough to limp 30 miles to the nearest on the water Honda dealer, I had Honda Service Center send a tech to my boat. The tech looked at my plugs cleanliness during the first hour of his visit but he evidently did not look at the plug manufacturer. Three visits later and 3 calls to "Honda Tech", the tech learns that some Honda engines shipped directly from Japan come with Densco? plugs. Honda has a problem with Densco plugs and is having Honda dealers replace these plugs with MGK plugs which solved my engine's problem. It's too bad Honda does not share these problems with registered owners and evidently did not train their tech to look for the problem either. |

To save folks some trouble, I'm pretty sure the proper plug man. is
NGK, not MGK.
