I was wondering if there was any good fishing around Lopez? Some fresh salmon might fit the ticket for this gig !!

I'll be giving it a try too...just returned from G.I. Joe's, now a few $$$ lighter, but pretty well set up for a while at least. New rod, new tackle box, big hooks with lead on top, root beer prawns or whatever, scent - whatever the guy suggested for ling cod, I bought it! I will tell you, ugly as they are, those ling cod are TASTY! We had some at Lopez last year, and we need some more this year!

Pat,

I'm thinking B~C was right. Might have to rename that boat Dayjunkie. You may be ready to move up to a CD Angler model before long Wink.

Give the guys a call at IMC(Islands Marine Center) on Lopez Island,
they should know what's hot and what's not. If you get a hold of Rick King, tell him Frank sent you! Lots of local hot spots.
My personal favorites are Rhys Davis Anchovy Specials(bait holders),
with anchovies if you got them or herring, small size(red package)
Run the teaser about 6' behind a green stryper flasher(plastic flasher with a fluorescent green stripe on one side, either by Oki or Hotspot) and fish deep! Downriggers are the way to go, about 90' to 110'.
If you can't stand bait, use a green spatterback hoochie
or a glow white oily/pearl looking hoochie.
Need any other help or assistance , just let me know.
Also don't forget about crabbing, it's hot if the season is open!

Crabbing opens in Area 7 South - including all the San Juans - on June 16, won't be open when we are at Lopez, but will be in full swing while we are at Blakely!

I'd go with the Rick King idea. Met Rick a number of years ago and he's a fish buyer/processer that knows the area. We're likely to run into him at the Islander having a cold one one night and I intend to ask about what's hot and what's not. Rick's wife works at IMC so she can let me know how to say howdy although he has several bad habits besides fishing. He likes to golf and can be found up at the local coarse. I'm sure I can find him and loosen his tounge if the beer boys will provide some proper libation. We'll see.

Tim
