Sounds like an interesting idea, Duane. We've cruised the Sea of Cortez from La Paz to the top end, but in a 65 footer. Great water and wonderful SCUBA diving. Also, chugged around the Midriff Islands in an 18 footer, out of Bahia Los Angeles -- and the island, Angel de la Guarda, especially, was super. Never done it in a CDory -- will be interested in responses regarding long distance cruising in the Sea -- such info as places to refuel, quality of fuel, water sources and quality, etc. We'll be following your thread with interest. _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

El and Bill,
Good to hear from you. Are you still thinking of cruising down the Missouri?
Our long range plans this year are to sell the house, and winter in Mexico, aboard Plan B. I have always thought about a long term stay in Mexico, and a recent article in AARP magazine has convinced Joane that the concept is worth looking in to. We have blocked time in May to drive down and check out the San Carlos area.
See you both soon,
Duane |

Paula and I returned to the States two days ago after spending ten weeks on our CD25 Jammin in the Sea of Cortez.
We trailered J. from Nogales Arizona to San Carlos, Sonora Mexico. This is an easy 4 lane six hour drive. There are good launching ramps at Marina Real and Marina San Carlos. Secure storage for truck and trailer about $60US per month.
We went from San Carlos to Loreto area of Baja. Crossings range from about 70 miles to Santa Rosalia to 135 to Puerto Escondido. We cruised the deserted islands from Loreto to La Paz and back for three weeks.
Gas is available from Jugs or 55 gallon barrrel in Puerto Escondido or at Marina Palmira in La Paz.
C-Dories are perfect boats for the Sea. We often anchored in 4-5 feet over white sand in very protected anchorages. I would recommend Charlies Charts to anyone wanting to cruise the Sea.
We don't fish but we really enjoyed all the fantastic bird, dolphin and whale watching.
Highly Recommended. Best times Oct-Nov March-June I think.
In Bay area now - Off to the great Northwest soon.

Dennis and Paula,
Nice to meet you the other day at the rest area. Thanks for the tour. My wife loved your boat. We hope to see you out there some day.

Dennis,
Pictures posted in June? Where have I been?
Managed only a month of boating this summer on Plan B, mainly because my part time West Marine job is not so part time lately.
We hope to take a month or two, starting in September; starting in Puget Sound, and moving south with the weather. Hope to see the Sea of Cortez before heading home.
Duane,
