Roger - NOAA is saying the winds will be under 15 knots by mid morning Friday. Although it looks like it may be on the cool side and a little wet, with a bunch of C-Brats, we should be able to make this a great gathering.
I plan on getting there (John Wayne Marina) at daybreak Friday morning and will venture out into the straights before the winds die down too much. From there I will head over to Port Townsend and look for C-Brats coming by boat. I plan to be at the gathering sometime in the mid afternoon.
I can’t wait and read this thread three or four times a day anticipating this gathering.
Thank You Roger for all your work and the emails keeping us informed about the Park, weather and other information. You do a great job in making this a great group.
Looking forward to seeing you and the other Brats.

Thanks Dave,
We're looking forward to it too. Still room for more C-Brats!
I hope you are going to get some photos of the boats on their way to Sequim.
Harvey and Deena of Sleepy-C have ordered a C-Brat decorated cake for the Pot-Luck, bless their hearts! They also have a dining fly type awning that could cover one of the 2 picnic tables on the dock.
I think we have most of our bases covered. If not we'll fake it!
See you Friday.

The weather in Port Townsend has been early morning fog much of this week, and likely to continue, with mid to late morning clearing. Probably Sequim is similar.
I have obligations Fri night and Sat night, and hope to come over by either boat or car on Sat during the day. If it's not too rough or foggy, boat is first choice.

Thanks Dave, The fog between Sequim Bay and Admiralty Inlet has been patchy and clears fairly early.
I can see that stretch of water from my house. I will e-mail my home and cell numbers to all the registered C-Brats. Feel free to call for a real time weather update!
Did I leave out anybody's trim color on the poster?
Weather is looking better each time they update the forecast.

I just found a 2 1/2" crack on the lower unit of one the boat's motors...
It dosen't look like we'll make it, though there is a slim chance we will ride the motorcycle up there, I just don't know yet.
Roger, thanks for making name tags for us. Sorry it was a waste of your time and resources.
Gonna go pull the lower unit and get it ready for the welder. Maybe have a beer too.
Cheers! |

Has anyone heard of any salmon fishing going on in the Sequim Bay area, I just might have to bring some gear along and give it a try if it is open.

I don't have a C-Dory yet and my big Thunderjet is in the shop getting the motor looked at.... I was thinking of driving up to Sequim (3+ hours north of Kalama on the lower Columbia river) and "crashing" your gathering. My wife and I are strongly considering reboating with a C-Dory and now the discussion is mainly focused on which type. Here we are seriously considering spending $30,000 -- $70,000 on a boat and though I've inspected them at the boat shows, I've never ridden in one on the water. If I were to show up with some fresh smoked tuna or salmon that I caught last month... could I bribe my way into your gathering, talk boats, twist arms or bribe someone with some single malt scotch for a ride in their C-Dory?

The C-Brats are a proud and loyal bunch, but they can be bought! I think a tour and/or ride in the model you're thinking about is a sure thing. Most C-Dory owners are just unpaid salesmen for the factory. I've seen it happen many times at CBGT's
Come on up and get to know the C-Brats!

Roger,
Nice Poster. Sounds like you are really working to make this weekend great. How did you get the weather to hold off? I will dig the tarp out and we will be out as soon as we get off work Friday. Good to see such a nice turnout signed up. Really anxious to get to see everyone. Thanks for all your hard work and planning.
Harvey

Our target is early afternoon on Friday. We'll see how good my aim is.
We plan on putting in at John Wayne Marina.
Does anyone know if there any microwaves or some way to reheat prepared dishes at the Sequim Bay Yacht Club club room? |

Steve, There is a microwave and we may have access to the commercial kitchen at the marina. If it needs an oven, It can be heated or cooked at our house.
I was just at the park and the construction equipment is all put away for the weekend and not a factor for us. If allowed, I'll put up some signs for those driving in.
Our boat's in the driveway loading up "stuff" for the event.
Sequim Bay is as flat as a mill pond this afternoon.

I will be leaving my office in about an hour and a half for home to load the boat and hitch my truck to it. I will leave around 5 AM and I should be at the John Wayne Marina Friday morning.
Milehog, really glad you are going to make it.

Wednesday we hooked R-MATEY up to the truck. We were ready to go; everything was loaded. This morning just before we headed out the door we looked at the marine weather forecast for an update. The return trip on Sunday would be questionable. We love the adventures we've had with R-MATEY, she's a tough boat and she'll handle all types of heavy weather...but having had several rough trips in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, we decided that this weekend our journey will be on wheels.
So, we'll be arriving sometime Friday, without R-MATEY but will have a whole bunch of freshly picked corn from SENSEI Roger & Beth Johnson's farm that they give so generously each year for the Sequim CBGT.
Looking forward to seeing everyone...just wish that the weather forecast was more in our favor.
