In 2001 my lid blower fan motor(s) failed and took the circuit board with them. As Karl explained, the lid blower fan motors were 9 volts(or some weird voltage) and were fed through the cb. When the blower fan motors went away (increased resistance) they took the cb with them. $140 for just the board. Karl devised a custom fix to prevent this from ever happening again. He replaced the twin blower-fan motors(9 volt ?) with a single, large, 12v motor(leaving an unwired motor on one side as a simple spindle). He provided 12 volts to this motor "upstream" of the cb(at the power switch I think). This way, if the blower motor ever fails the cb is unaffected. I love my Wallas and there's really not a comparable replacement...on a 22'. However, I've got a real affection for the "Dickinson 9000". It is too cool with the glass-door and fireplace effect. And its blower-fan can chase you right out of the cabin. _________________ Pete

We agree with you Dan, about not trusting the Wallas!! We brought it up to Scan Marine so many times that my kids thought I was working there.
Mike even came down to our boat and messed around with it for a couple of hours and really couldn't figure out what the problem was.
Now, we do what I believe Starcraft Tom recommended. We start up the Wallas and after a couple of minutes, shut it down. We wait, start it up again and we have had no problems since we have been using this technique. Fickle thing!!

Hate the damm thing and will never own another one. Since we had the ciricut board replaced this winter it has been better but I don't get the amount of air from the blower that we use to. just not blowing as much. It does start very time now, when the plug does not get bumped by something in the cabinets. The whole unit is just to fragile for the area that it is in. Someone , c-cakes maybe, had a better solutions, one that I have been thinking about and the one that will go in to my next boat. a separate heater blower that fits under the cabinets and has ducting and vents that you can run up to the v-berth. to cook on just an a gas two burner stove. I like cooking on a flame any how. it cost just about the same as a wallas with out as the problems. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Dogon, I had the green circit board replaced about a month or so ago, thankfully it was still under warranty. I took it to Scan Marine and they did all the work, I thought that it was a fuel pump problem. The cost to me was $25 but I did ask Mike @ Scan how much it would of cost if it wasn't under warranty and he said it would of been $215.
Other then smoking after I reinstalled it, it now seems to work just fine, and has now dropped the smoking habit. |

That is the single most elegantly eloguent statement ever made about the Wallas. _________________ TyBoo Mike

After about two years of listening to all the info about the sporadic performance of the Wallas we have decided that when we swap out the minnie cruiser for a larger one we will go with Webasto or Espar cabin heat and just use a butane stove if we need to burn/er cook something. Will also have a small microwave. The Espars I have had were only bad when they really went bad. But that was only about once every five years or so. Simple, reliable, and easily owner maintained. |

I loved it when Pounder installed his Wallas... in the kit they included a really nice knife..... to cut yer throat when the darn thing quits.
I installed a Dickerson propane stove.... neat, and works super... propane is in the lazerette sio no danger of fumes... but not a heater...just a stove...

Joel-
Now that you've got the propane on board safely, why not add the Dickinson Proppane Fireplace? I know you don't need it in So. California, but it would be great up at your Lake Almanor home or when traveling. Joe.
