Frequent Sea is a 2003 (#30) CD 25 which still has the fuel fill on one side and a plastic fuel tank.

I wonder how many of the plastic tanks had problems and were replaced.
I would appreciate a link to the specific article on the cutting out of the deck, if anyone still remembers where it was. (A quick search didn't find it--sorry)

Thanks,

Bob, I have that style tank, no problems to date. I did learn though to just fill till the 'first click' of the gas pump. But more accurately I listen to the gurgling of the vent when it gets nearly full, when it stops gurgling, I stop the pump. That leaves about 5 gals to go, enough airspace for storing in hot conditions.

Sorry, don't know the link you're looking for on removing the deck, I don't believe I read it.

I have heard from one private party who is currently having the plastic tank replaced in a 2004 boat. When an aluminum tank is placed in a boat, one has to be sure that the bottom of the tank does not rest on the bottom of the boat or a board. It needs to be supported on some battons, so that any water can drain free, and air can easily circulate around the tank.

The first alum tanks didn't have baffles I understand. Bad. Evidently my plastic does, no sloshing problems or 'vent geysers'! So might want to check the newer alum tanks to verify baffles.

Thanks,
Talking to Brent Reynolds he says that only one plastic has been replaced because of leaks since he has been in charge of customer relations.

Basically if the tank leaks they will replace it. However it is not entirely clear if warantee on the 2003 boats is transferable to a second owner. I do believe that the fuel tank would be for the five years.
