As I understand it the 135 is a detuned 150. So you have the same weight, a little bit lower price, and a little bit less power. I have the 150.
I'd guess fuel usage might be a bit higher than the 150, but that's just a guess.

Dragonfly...
Last week someone posted a link to the Honda site that has a series of video clips explaining the difference between the 135 and the 150. Try searching for that.
I think they operate pretty much the same until they hit 4500 rpm, then a series of changes in valve timing, etc, boosts the performance.
I got the 150's on my TomCat and am glad I did. Although you probably won't find much need for more than the 135 on the CD25, it is nice to have that in reserve! You never know when some grandkids might want to go tubing!

We have the Honda 135 on our CD-25 and are very pleased with it. We went with that over the 150 on the recommendation of the factory (based on how we told them we'd be using the boat). No complaints with power... well, until you get to a high elevation like Lake Tahoe.
We find that we cruise in the mid-teens most of the time, and the 135 is quite happy there. With flatter water, we will run into the low 20s. On a couple occasions with very flat water, I've gotten 30 knots out of the boat. My opinion is that the boat gets "busy feeling" at those speeds. I'm sure more horse power would get you another couple knots, but it isn't something we'd use.
You pays your money, you gets your choice (as an old college professor used to say). Good luck with your decisions.
Best wishes,
Jim B. |
