Today is Daydream's first birthday!
We took her home from Kent on February 14, 2003, and boy, did we all have a good year! For her birthday, we are headed out to Sucia around noon, should not be too much competition to tie up at the dock at Fossil Bay!
Of course we join everyone in wishing Dusty a happy birthday too. _________________

Happy birthday to the 1 year old. That baby sure is a sweetie, Pat and Pattie. Have fun at Sucia and we'll see you at the next outing.

Hi Pat & Patty, Happy 1st Birthday! It didn't occur to me till I read your birthday note that we're right behind you. Purchased R-Matey Feb 21st, 2003 from Les at EQ; picked her up April 4th.
Would have loved to have met you today at Sucia but went to the Seattle Home Show after we'd visited the C-Dory shop in Kent. Chatted a few minutes with the fellow who does their woodwork. He said they sold 21 C-Dory's at the SBS.
Told him about the "Scout" being stolen & then found, etc. He said that last year they had four boats removed from their boat yard & stripped. Only one motor was recovered & that's because the "new owner" took it to a dealer for its necessary service & the dealer had the numbers from the police.
Again, Happy 1st Birthday. Glad to hear that you were able to get out on the water today. Know that you enjoyed yourselves a lot more than what we did (other than our short fun visit to the C-Dory Shop).

Yes, thanks to all for the birthday wishes! We had a great trip over, a fabulous Saturday on Sucia, only a couple of other boats at the dock, a lovely stroll over to Shallow Bay, where we watched the eagles and had a nice chat with the park ranger, a lovely Valentine's Day dinner and watched a movie on the laptop. Only marred by our electrical problems, which I solved for the evening by patching in my little 12 volt jump start to the helm panel so we would have lights.
Sunday, a flurry of activity to try to solve the electrical problem, a temporary solution, and we were ready to go. The weather had deteriorated seriously, and we were on the horns of a dilemma, should we brave the big waves in the morning, or hope for calmer weather in the afternoon, as the forecast predicted? A fellow on a big boat at the dock in front of us persuaded us that the afternoon might be calmer, but if there was any wind, it would be blowing against a huge ebb tide, and we would be better off leaving sooner rather than later, which we did.
This was our most severe test yet, waves in the 3 - 5 foot range, maybe a few larger. We were following the big boat, whose captain said he would keep an eye on us. We made out just fine, ran 8 - 10 knots the whole way, but we discovered that we need to figure out a few better ways to batten things down - whatever COULD fall, DID! By the time we reached Bellingham Bay, pretty much everything was on the floor!
All in all, still glad we went!

Hi there Pat & Patty, Been thinking about you all day. Glad to see your post that you made it back safely from Gilligan's Island (formerly known as Sucia). Early Sunday morning we drove north to check out some property. On the return trip I suggested to Joe that we drive thru Birch Bay as we thought we might spot your boat. Little did we know you'd had electrical problems and were still at Sucia. Your adventure has helped us think about being better prepared. Joe's always checking the motor but it didn't occur to us to check the electrical panel. We should know better from our previous experience with the used 22'C-Dory that we had. Corrosin was it's middle name. Anyway, again so pleased that you're okay. It really was nasty out there yesterday.

Thanks for thinking of us! To find us in Birch Bay, just come in Lynden - Birch Bay Road (Exit 270), and go straight across at the stop light by the Water Slides instead of turning left down to the bay on Harborview - across Harborview the street is called Morgan Drive, we are about the fifth house on the left (the water side), 4919 Morgan Drive, there is an overgrown berm, a gray fence and a trailer in the driveway, it is a gray cottage with a steep pitched roof, pretty easy to find actually. Our phone is 360-371-3849. If we are up, the boat will be in the driveway unless we are out cruising! If we are there, please stop in! Of course, not everyone thinks of going cruising in mid-February, but it seemed like a good idea at the time (and I am still glad we went!). Sucia was exquisite, really!

Catman,
Thanks for the R-Matey birthday wishes. Can't believe it's almost one year. Managed to get about 33 hours in 2003. Hopefully we'll be able to do a lot more than that this year. Sure gonna try!

Hi Pat & Patty,
Thanks for the directions. Have printed them out. We remember seeing the Water Slides. Will give you a call if we're headed that way.

On return from Sucia, a year and a day, our hour meters read 150.3 and 150.9...
