Yes, I liked the pre-2007 boats better. The hulls are all great hulls. I simply like some of the cut cabinets interior rather than the newer shinny form fiberglass interiors of 2007 vintage. This ain't wine...and some things do not get better with time. Just pay particular attention to the availability and access to storage space if you really plan to use your boat for more than a day boat.

The factory as I understand it, needed to speed things up a bit, as to be able to have parts sitting around on the ready rather than a cabinet maker cutting and making the cabinets on site. Faster is not always better.

Might be time for someone somewhere to open up a barn and start a cut shop for C-Dory boats... Pimp-My-Dory...for all it's Glory!!!

Just my thoughts.

My old Ph.D. advisor used to use the "They don't build 'em like they used to" line a lot. In his case he was referring to ancient vacuum tube technology relative to some modern transistor based equipment. At one point I got fed up with this line and asked "Why the HECK do you think that is?". In this particular case it was obvious, the newer technology was not only cheaper, it was better. With regards to our cherished C-Dory's - While many would and have argued that the interior changes are a down-grade relative to the "old way" of doing things, a reasonable number also liked certain aspects better.

"They don't build 'em like they used to" could also be said about a number of common flaws in the old designs and manufacturing process that have been corrected in the new models or improvements that have been made also. I can think of several features including the improved table mounts, the improved front window, the improved rear door and the improved steps in the cockpit that are different in the 2007 model relative to my 2002. So IMHO the moan of ""They don't build 'em like they used to" is tiring and unfairly implies that everything is going downhill.

One thing is certain though, if C-Dory (or any company for that matter) is going to stay in business for the long haul, "They don't build 'em like they used to" will be spoken many times in the future.

PS - They don't build Fords, Chevy's or Dodge's like they used to either. Now they almost compete with the Japanese cars for reliability. Thank goodness for that.
