I wonder if this could be adapted to a C-Dory? I found it in the current Passagemaker.

Warren- I've seen a variety of these types of stern carriers. They look OK and probably work well on boats that are big enough to handle the weight and windage of the inflatable or dinghy. I'm not sure if any of the C-Dory boats are large enough to "fit" with these types of carriers. Some of them really mess up the appearance of your boat. No offence, just my $0.02 Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

None taken, just ran across the reference and was intrigued, particularly by how they can tow the dinghy with its bow in the water and its stern elevated.

Most of the ones I have seen with the dingy part in the water, have been on slow boats--like sail boats or trawlers.
The models in the link seem to be hoisted up well above the water. I think that the windage and visability might be a problem. I think that if you had a kayak rack over the back, you could make a system to bring the dinghy up over the back. You might even drop down the back of the rack to form a ramp to bring the boat up on. _________________ Bob Austin

Oh, I thought from the thread title you were referring to Sneaks' truck.
(I have been waiting a couple years for that opening. Thank you very much.) _________________ TyBoo Mike

Take a look at these photos and these.
I still like the idea of using the Garhauer Davit mounted on the cabin side as you proposed, but lately I realized I could also do it with this since I already have Scotty downriggers but of course it would not work on the cabin top, unless I adapted one of the Scotty mounts shown below the line hauler.

What we need is for some genius to design a trimaran powerboat with detachable amas (outrigger hulls) that become kayacks at anchor.

Warren,
Interesting on the Scotty pot hauler--maybe one could be put on the cabin top--not too hard to put a plug and a mount up there, just build a wedge----great idea. Even on the cabin top, it could be a pot hauler, especiall as it brings the pot in thru the side of the camper canvas foreward. |
