Great trip, beautiful sunset. Happy Days. Congratulations on your months record.

Thanks, Herb. Probably only a big deal to me... and the first mate/naturalist, who was also "batting 1,000." Wink Enjoy this beautiful weather!

Best wishes,
Jim

Hi Jim,

Nice report, super sunset and great job of keeping your charter happy.

Yes the waning light is stressful, and it is always nice to get back without hearing that "bump". I think it is hard for folks to imagine what floats out there until you have seen some of it.

Hope you have a great 4th weekend.

Thanks, Harvey. Some of that stuff in the water is hard to see (especially in chop), even in the daylight. That is one nice thing about that tall flybridge. Sunrise and sunset are my favorite times of the day. Add a boat and some beautiful weather, and it is hard to beat.

It was in the 70s today here on San Juan Island. Day off, so we cruised around the island on our scoots. We stopped to view on the west side of the island - Haro Strait was a gorgeous blue...

Best wishes,
Jim

We got to visit with Patrick and Kim (C-Dory: Kim Christine) last night and today. And, meet the newest member of their family: Sunshine, a blonde Golden Retriever. I felt bad that Izzy wasn't more hospitable to Sunshine, hissing and snarling at her when we invited them onboard Wild Blue. I did apologize for Izzy's behavior, but Sunshine was very gracious.

---------------

Another great day of whale watching...

Boundary Pass down to Haro Strait. It has been quite a season so far, and some spectacular weather in the San Juans. We are quickly approaching our half way time here.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

It was great to visit with both Joan, you and Izzie. Can't really fault Izzie all the way, Sunshine was a little excited and being a puppy!
We made it home in record time, I'm sure. Bellingham Bay was like a lake, honestly, it's not always ruff Very Happy
Hope to see you guys soon and get our friends up for a whale watching trip!

Sea planes are about the greatest thing in existence. My 1946 J3. Cub was fitted with floats and nothing beats an early morning smooth water take off just after sunrise. Unfortunately, it could only carry me when the floats were on. Solo makes it a true spiritual experience.

I have over 4,000 hours, com/multi/inst... but have only been a passenger in seaplanes. Looks to me to be the ultimate soft-field take off and landing technique. Years ago, we flew to Florida for an AOPA convention; amongst the planes on display was a Lake Amphibian. I was really taken with that idea, but it didn't make much sense, since we were living in western South Dakota at the time.

We had a twin (Beech Baron) with de-ice, Stormscope, etc - very capable, all-weather transportation... but I dreamed of warm days; landing on the water and being able to taxi up a ramp.

Desires change. Wink

Well, it has been quite a ride. Wild Blue has been sold...

http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=21986

Tim and Mary are friends, and will carry on with new adventures with Wild Blue. I will be following along on their travels.

Many thanks for the kind words are responses on this thread. Our time on Wild Blue has been a delight, and the C-Brats we have met along the way have been a big part of that.

We have no immediate plans for "the next boat." But, I can't imagine there will be another as versatile as Wild Blue has been for us.

If you see Wild Blue out on the water, take the opportunity to meet Tim and Mary - they are great people and will be a fun addition to the C-Brat family.

191 pages, over 387,000 views on this thread. I never imagined that when I started this thread years ago. That was at a time when posting photos daily was not always easy... when our data card connection was slow... but it was fun to show & tell as the trip unfolded. Thanks for following along and contributing here.

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan

Jim & Joan, yes quite the ride indeed & thanks for sharing so much of it for us to enjoy too. I have no doubt your next chapter will be just as fun & interesting as what we have enjoyed here till now, because your enjoyment of life is not about the toys, but appears more to us to be the adventure of seeing & experiencing together whatever is around the bend with the spice being the different ways of doing so.

Gee's ... talk about "flying under the radar" we had NO idea the sale of Wild Blue was in the 'offing.

Whatever, as you said "...it's been quite a ride."

Congratulations, and we'll be anxious to follow-along for the Next Chapter!

Best,
Casey&Mary

Jim and Joan,

I assume you'll both remain part of the C-Brats as you'll always be part of the family. Best of luck in your future travels and wherever life takes you. Boatless by choice - nothing wrong with that - now if you give up guitar playing or telling corny jokes, I'll really start to wonder if you're losing your marbles! Laughing
