I'll be working on Wild Blue tomorrow, so the ferry trip isn't going to work for us; need to get our "summer home" ready!
If the Blonde wants a job for next summer, Izzy and I will pack her lunch and send her off. I think it has more to do with the wine than the work.
I saw that video of the cat whooping up on the dog. I asked Izzy if she would rescue me like that... she said, "Absolutely - you know just how I like my food. I don't want to have to break in another chef."
People don't think twice about a 50 pound dog. Those same people would crap themselves if they saw you coming with a 50 pound cat. Izzy gets very protective of her home (house, boat, RV) and her people, and can go from a little sweetie to blur of claws and fangs in a heartbeat if she senses a threat.
Cat owners get that video.
We're looking forward to our time in Friday Harbor this summer, but it will be some time next week before we get there. But, we'll be thinking about all the C-Brats and the fun everyone there will be having.
Best wishes,

Love Hart Ranch! It has been a while since we've been there. We have been owner/members there for over 2 decades. It is the RV resort we compare all others to (Grammar Police: ended sentence with a preposition!). It was easy to go there on the way to and from the Tetons, since we had the 5th wheel. (You may remember our episode of putting a tent on the site so we'd have "an official camping unit" and staying in our boat... the board of directors changed the bylaws after that. )
Have fun with your Alaska trip! I take it you are RVing your way there? Post some updates here - there are plenty of Brats who enjoy RVing, too.
Best wishes,
Jim |

It has been a while since I posted an update here: we are settled in at Friday Harbor for another season of whale watching. Wild Blue is our home for the summer. Living aboard works for us.
Here's a link from today's trip...
http://captnjim.blogspot.com/2014/06/i-aint-afraid-of-no-triskaidekaphobia.html
The work schedule Joan negotiated means we are having some time off for fun... land exploring with the scoots and water cruising with Wild Blue.

The weather in the San Juans has been pretty darn pleasant since we got here in May; hoping for more of the same.
See you out on the water!
Best wishes,
Jim B.

Missed you on our last trip through Friday Harbor clearing customs before heading to Bellingham. It was during the middle of the day & no doubt you were both on the job. We sure enjoyed our visits with you two when did connect & maybe we'll see you again there next year as we'er considering going all the way up the Inland Passage next spring starting from Bellingham.
Those of you who don't follow Jim's blog are really missing a treat. It's a fantastic way to view how a couple can turn life into a continual adventure with wonderful writing & photos to boot. _________________ Jay and Jolee 2000 22 CD cruiser Hunkydory

Jim and Joan,
Good to see you back in the islands again, and getting to see the whale reports via the blog. Leader of the pack pix show you were in the right place.
Hope to get to meet up again sometime this summer. Will be watching for a good chance. Enjoy your writing and photos always.
Harvey

Hi ,enjoyed catching up on blog, you guys sure do a lot and stay busy. And to think I am a little leery about towing a boat behind my truck camper ,because I cant see it. I can tow no problem when campers not on truck, but after seeing you tow 5th wheel and a cargo trailer, all I can say is that takes some confidence ,guess it comes with expierence. Look forward to days when we can travel to the San Juans, a few more years. Regards Larry |

Hi Jay and Harvey,
Thanks for the kind words. We are enjoying our time in the San Juans... getting more "play time" this season, so far.
Hope to see you out on the water.
Best wishes,

Quite a day yesterday...
http://captnjim.blogspot.com/2014/06/best-day-ever.html
J-Pod and L-Pod came together, and we were there just in time for the greeting ceremony. My naturalist on the boat was absolutely giddy!
Not much in the way of photos, because I left the camera at home - all I had was my phone...
Colby (Midnight Flyer) came by the boat after I got back from Roche... it's interesting to visit with someone who is in the San Juans for the first time. This really is a very special place.
Best wishes,
Jim |

Nice Jim,
Bet your clients were really happy. Hope to get across and see you guys one of these weekends. Spent this last weekend on the boat. Point Wilson and south. Did get to see some dolphin, and seals "breaching" along with getting real close to a bald eagle.

Hi Harvey,
Some spectacular weather this weekend - glad you were able to get out on Sleepy-C. I've seen seals "breach"... when being chased by transient Orcas. Bald eagles are magnificent birds, especially when you can seem them up close. So much to see and enjoy when out on the boat.
Stop by if you find yourself this way.
Best wishes,
Jim |
