Does anyone have experience with Kipor's 1000 watt generator? I am considering one and would appreciate some feedback concerning reliability and storage when not in use. I would like to store it lengthwise, under the motor well. They seem to be a Honda clone (shape, size and spec.) and definitely a price performer if they are functionally and reliably adequate. _________________ Kerry and Sam on Salty-Cs

You can go HERE for some reports by users on the generator.

RV.Net is a great place to get feedback on small generators - many more are in use with these folks than boaters.
Here's a link to their search page - plenty of hits on "Kipor". _________________ Will, C-Brat Nerd |

I followed the Kipor threads in the RV world--and purchased a Honda --2000. Yes the Kipor is cheaper--but service may be hard to get and parts difficult to find. The Honda is a proven unit. I have a 500 watt generator (800 max) I have owned for almost 30 years and it still runs well. _________________ Bob Austin

Thanks for the replies Guys! It looks like Kipor may not be the C-Dory of generators. I am fine for a little over 48 hrs. with liberal use of the wallas, fridge and stereo...all other electrical devices use their own power or my compact backup emergency power source. Looks like a Honda or Yamaha may be in my future. |
