You can get it at West Marine, but it is even more expensive than normal. And normal is expensive.
Do a Google search for Starboard Building material and you will get a bunch of sites. Maybe add Canada and see what you have north of the border. Good luck _________________ David and Kate

I've bought a lot of it from www.buckwoodcraft.com . They seem to have a good selection.

Try Industrial Plastics and Paints on Northfield Rd in Nanaimo. I am sure they have it (also offcuts of HDPE). I think HDPE can be used in place of Starboard - depending on application I guess.
Note: I have seen OOPS gathering moss in Ganges the odd time I put in there!

I ordered mine from Boater's world (boatersworld.com). The provide free shipping on orders over $100 except for large or very heavy pieces. A 1/2" x 24" x 54" piece is $99.99 (Fentress poly lumber - same a starboard) and that's the largest piece they will ship for free. Order two or order something else really cheap to hit the $100 min order. This was the best deal I could find. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

WOW - that is about 10 times as expensive as good quality marine plywood. When you guys said it was expensive, I visualized maybe three to four times the cost of marine plywood, not 10 times.

Yep - and they get 1.5 to 2 times more at West Marine!! Also, unlike plywood, this stuff has no strength across unsupported spans of more than a foot or so depending on depth. E.g. it will sag easily if run flat across long spans. Vertically (e.g. on edge), the stuff is plenty strong. On the bright side, once you make an appropriate piece of this stuff, there's no finishing and it will outlast you. |

It's worth buying a small sheet of 1/2". It makes nice backing blocks,
and small items that you wouldn't want to paint or glass. For instance,
I made a small mount for my antenna for when it's folded down on the
pilot house roof. I'll probable use a piece to extend the helm a bit and
mount the radio. A little goes a long way. See if you can split a piece with
a friend.
Cuts nicely with a table or radial arm saw. Drills well.
I wouldn't make seat backs or anything like that with it. Plywood with
epoxy is just as good and much cheaper.
