Hi C - Brats,
We just joined the group. We were fortunate in acquiring the C-Dory Angler 19 that Glen and Estelle Miller from New Hampshire had for sale. We drove down this week to pick up the boat. We had a nice time exchanging with Glen and Estelle. We are currently living in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada which is close by Ottawa. We will soon be retiring to our cottage in Northern Quebec, in the Lake St. John region.
The ride down from Canada was foggy but still a delight driving through the hills in Vermont.
Unfortunately, it will be several months before we can actually get the boat into the water and see the legendary C=Dory handling first-hand.
So this is Greetings to C-Brats!

John and Denyse,
Welcome to the C-brat family. I imagine it is a little too cold to get the boat in the water right now. This gives you an enormous amount of time to decide what little touches you may want to add to your "new" boat to personalize it to your needs.

Welcome! There are lots of C-Dory people out here in Washington State, which is, well, almost Canada. Again, congratulations on your new boat and welcome to C-Brats. _________________ MartyP

John and Denyse-
Welcome aboard to the C-Brats!
You'll enjoy your C-Dory up in the north country!
I checked it out, and it's a balmy 41 degress (F) and clear tonight in the Ottawa area!.............I'd figured it might be in the teens or single figures! Does your boat have a heater for the colder (but not frozen) months?
How's the Walleye, Great Northern Pike, Muskie, Greyling and ??? fishing up the Lake St. John area where you'll be retiring? Moose country too? How about the other critters?
Joe.

Bonjour, mes amis! We once brought a whole lug of blueberries home from the Lac St. Jean region, purchased from the Italian open-air market in Montreal. You are in a great country and now have a great boat. Welcome.

John and Denyse,
Welcome to the C-Brat site. What a pleasure it is to have someone come in from the province of Quebec.
Congratulations on the purchase of your 19CD. Our first CD was an 1985 22 Angler and yes, it did have a bit more room but we're very pleased with our 19CD. Several times we've stayed on her for 3-4 days while cruising the San Juans. Have been in some very bad weather and found it to be safe and dependable.
I see that you're not that far from Argenteuil County. My mother's family settled in Lachute 1820s.
Again, welcome to the C-Brats.
Ruth (and Joe, too)

Thank you all for the greetings.
Ottawa is unseasonally warm just now. In Lake St. John, they have lots of snow and ice on the lake. There is excellent fishing there for pike, pickerel (dore for us), perch, and landlocked salmon (ouananiche). There is a fair amount of ice fishing that goes on now that yields pickerel and loche (I don't know what the latter is called in English) a bottom feeding fish you only get in winter.
The Lake St. John area is renowned for its blueberries. People from the region are referred to by people from other regions of Quebec as "bleuets" - blueberries.
My cottage sits at the mouth of the big and small Peribonka rivers. Across the river from us sits a bird sanctuary where the guese stop on their migration and where a moose herd resides. Lovely place.
Cheers
