I just got my February 2007 issue and was pleased to find such a nice feature story with lots of my favorite folks being quoted. The story and pictures on the Ranger 25 was top of the line and quotes from Bill & Ell and Pat and Brent & Dixie were very well placed at the end of the story.
If you don't have a copy, run on down to West Marine and pick up one for your nautical library today. _________________ Mike Taylor

I qm heading down to Barnes and Noble.... they discount their magazines... West Marine goes full retail.....Hey Scott ya still have those gift cards ???
I used to subscribe but all they covered were the mega expensive new monster trawlers....nothing I could afford. I really wish they tried to do somthing for boats under 30'

Well Joel, If they are intending to cover more of the pocket trawlers, this is a great start. |

While you're correct about all the articles on large trawlers, etc, I have found the PassageMaker magazines full of good articles transferable to C-Dories. Solar, 12V systems, bottom coating, blistering, painting hulls and brightwork, electronics, cruising sites and more.

Can somebody PDF this article up and post it in the documents forum? I chatted a few minutes with Bob Lane, I sure don't remember saying anything particularly quotable... _________________

Passagemaker is my dreaming magazine I have learned much from them and enjoy every issue. And I hope they will focus some more on the pocket trawler boats too.
My other favorite is Sea Magazine. _________________ Commodore Jim & Adm. Laurie

I'm with you John, not only do I find the articles interesting but much of the current jewelry on our 25 cruiser was an adopted/adapted idea from the larger boats. Mike on Huda Thunkit |

At the end of the article they are asking for info concerning "small boat" cruisers.....where you have been, for how long, towing rig, and accessories on your boat. They want also want photos.
The contact info is: Natalie Friton at natalie@passagemaker.com
Some of you "Old Salts" need to send some of your trips to them. _________________ Delta Belle

Hi everyone-
A month or so ago Brent and I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Bob Lane regarding extended trips on our C-Dory. It was for an issue coming up in Feb.or sometime. We definitely would be considered in the "smaller boat" category and we love it that way. One of the questions he asked was if I would ever consider moving into the "yachty" category. Even if we could afford that, how can you spend one week on Lake Powell, the next on the Sacramento River, and the next two months touring the BC coast. I don't think those big boats trailer nearly as easily as ours. I love our Discovery! I can't wait to see if I said anything quotable in such an impressive publication?! We don't subscribe to the magazine,so if you see anything about camping in a TC255, let us know. _________________

When we talked to Bob Lane, he indicated that our interview was for an article about the TC255. We talked for over an hour. He asked us to e=mail him a bunch of pix of the TC255. Looks as if the TC255 article got rolled up into a more general magazine piece. Maybe the TC255 article will come out later, or not.
WhalerGoFar,
Thanks for the clarification. We will be in your neck of the woods about this time next month. Hope to launch from the Punta Gorda area around the 15th, and head south. Any recommendations on where to go and what to see? |

Hi Folks,
PASSAGEMAKER is one great magaine. They have picked up that not all of us can afford a Nordhavn.
El and Bill, and others have shown us the way, that there is a 22' outboard cruiser that can be a great passagemaker. Not across oceans like Beebe showed us, but along our very interesting coast.
Going out to get the February copy ASAP.
Thank you.

An interesting note from the Passagemaker article about the big Grand Banks cruise group that went up to Alaska was the mention that two of them ran aground early on in a small harbor at low tide. One was damaged so severely , a 60 footer, that it had to be put on a barge and shipped back for repairs. Another was able to continue on the cruise after repairs. Some others ran aground with little damage.
You don't hear about too many C-Dories running aground in those harbors! Bigger is not always better.

better bet other to this. I have ran around in my 22 ner everret. So I does happen. The differance is that I hopped out and stood in knee high water and dragged her back to the deeper channel. we dont need no sticking barge. _________________ Thomas J Elliott
