HI< Terraplane returns..been away, busy, off line, dealing with lots of stuff...

Put Sally's Sister away for the winter, and just before, the Wallas did not start: sequence: fully charged battery, hit switch..came on, then two minutes, went off, and wont start up..is it a fuse? where is it? if not, what?
been perfect up to now...

tom terraplane.

by the way, the June rally is now open for discussion...shall we do it again?

Hey Tom...

Got fuel... got power....or had power.... take a look and make sure the little "quick disconect" wire has not gotten loose/fallen down. Mine did...with about the same sequence of events.... then if it is tight, check for in line fuse "somewhere"....then to the vent/exhause and make sure no critter has built a home on the inbound or outbound side, making sure of course that a fender is not tied to the roof and blocking the exhaust vent, or a board on the trailer, or dockside.

Air, fuel, power... or...ya might take a peak at the end of the gizmo that stickes down into the fuel tank which might have gotten some gunk in/on it, blow it off good......and give er a go.

Seattle this year?

June sounds good. I really want to attempt to make the NE this year. Terry on The Last Dance is going to make me feel bad if I do not show...

With the newer stoves you have to do a "Reset" if you don't start in two tries. The proceedure to reset is:
Switch the power on.
Disconnect the fuse or power source at the battery
Reconnect the fuse/power cord, yellow LED lights for 1-3 seconds.
When the yellow LED has gone out, switch the power off.

Then you can attempt a relight.

The manual says if the stove does not start after two tries, then attempt to find the problem.

LED: Yellow continously--power is on
Red continously--normal combustion
Red blinking at 0.25 seconds: after cooling

Problems code
yellow every 2 seconds; glow plug problem
yellow every 0.125 and 2 seconds: combustion blower problem
yellow every one second: low voltage
Yellow and Red every 0.125 seconds--locked--reset
Red 0.25 seconds overheat
Red 30 seconds lights after failure signal

A couple of warnings in the book: at start up the control knob must be at high until the red is continously on.

If it fails to light the first time--wait 10 minutes before attempting re-start
Delayed start often suggests a "carbonized burner"

The main power must never be switched off until after cooling is complete and the red light stops flashing.

I know that some boats did not come with the manual--and hope that this helps--the older stoves may be somewhat different in codes and reset, although our late 90's stove seemed to be the same.

There's a manual? What we got hardly qualifies as a manual, maybe somebody could PDF it up and post it here...

I don't have a PDF conversion currently--but maybe in the next week or so I can scan it into a file. There are also drawings. I am not sure how what changes have been done to the circuit boards etc thru the years--but this is for one of the latest models..

I guess we were one of the lucky ones who got a manual....

Hey there Tom. Welcome back!

A couple times after sitting for a long spell, my stove did pretty much what you describe. I found that the fuel had drained down the line back to the tank and the pump couldn't get it to the stove in the time required for ignition. I took the fitting off the pump and manually drew the fuel up the line. Then it worked fine. I know that sucks, but that's what you gotta do for that little problem. While you have your lips wrapped aroung the thing, before drawing the fuel up you can blow the line completely empty and clean the little filter at the tank end. Once I got the line primed, it worked fine.

I wasn't clear from your post, but are you saying that after the failed ignition the stove won't do anything when you turn the switch back on? That would be some electrical thing. There is a small fuse on the circuit board (mine is 4 amp). It is stuck in there somewhere around the plugs. Easy to find if you know to look.

I was told that manuals were available only in Finnish, the language of the land where the Wallas was born- so I did not even try to go looking for one.

Bob: Thanks- I will be interested in the PDF file.

Hmmm...The stove is working fine- hope getting the manaul does not jinx it!

Those of you looking for manuals for the wallas, have you checked out this site. Kuranda. They seem to have many PDF manuals on the wallas available for downloading.

MANUAL!!!!!! I asked the guy at scan marine for a manual one time and he said that i should not mess with it. so I went home a took it apart. I would like a trouble shooting manual for it. I have found , without a manaul, that most problems are voltage or voltage drop, oh and the dam thing hates susan. I always start the wallas with the lid up so the fan is not running. I try to have the engine running when I start it and have the temp set to hi. other them that check the fuse to see if its loose and some of the plugs in the mother board (it that right?) come lose in rough water.

Also for saftey sake dont go suckng on the fuel tube, others here have bad fuel substance abuse problems that we should not go into. Instead just loosen the fuel fitting at the pump and squeeze the fuel tank until fuel gets to the pump them tighten down the fitting. Helps if some one else holds the tank compressed while you tighten the fitting. oh put your finger over the breather tube when you doit or it will just go out that way. ns know that I think of it you could just blow in the breather tube.

took the boat out and tried to light the stove it smoked started to get hot then shut down. wont relight will try the pulling the fuse out thing and bleed the fuel line. what do you guys use for fuel? Diesel? kerosene? I used kerosene in my first one and this one came with diesel that smells like varnish, im sure that didn't help. well i drained the tank and filled it with kerosene will see if i can get it to go Disgust

We've only burned diesel in ours...and changed it out when we had issues not being able to start it...the diesel was a kinda orangey color.. she started right up with fresh fuel and after we got it put back together. Wink
