Does anyone know if you can store the tomcat on slings?? I am looking at a slip that has slings to lift the boat out of water.

docdoc, I assume you mean lift it with slings and then store it on something else? I wouldn't "store" it on slings but I'm sure you could lift it that way and put it somewhere. Make sure there are spreaders above the boat to keep the slings from "pinching" it. Also, if you're going to put it down and remove the slings, make sure there are some slots in the trailer or storage rack that will allow the slings to come back out again.

On edit: In re-reading your post, I guess you DO mean store it on slings. Yes I guess you could if they were wide enough so that they wouldn't damage the hull and were held apart at the top either with a spreader as I indicated or have the slings coming from something that held them apart at least as wide as the boats' beam. I'd tie it down somehow too so it wouldn't sway/blow against anything either.

My neighbor has his TC 24 on slings. I have had several boats in the 22 to 25 foot range on slings. The aft sling has to be right at the aft of the boat, so that the weight of the motors on the transom is taken by the aft sling.

Slings on lifts are pulled from the sides of the lifts, either with a single or double motor setup, so there is no issue of "pinching" the boat--in the lifts I have used.

However, I have my TC 255 on bunks (see the Thataway album). I feel that with the weight of the TC 255, it is easier on the boat to have it on a bunk cradle rather than slings. In either case, you have to have a dual motor setup--a single motor is not strong enough both in lift or static mode to handle the weight of the TC 255. It will cost a bit more for the bunks--and you have to have slightly deeper water--but the boat will do better.

What is your situation where the slings might be preferable?

It is my understanding that the factory trailers come with a space for sling usage on the TomCat 255.
