Not a C-Dory topic, but thought I would let you know, Patty is in the ICU at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Long story short as possible, she had bug all last week, couldn't keep any food or liquids down, got weaker and weaker. Sunday I said enough was enough, and took her to the local Snoqualmie Valley Hospital ER. Three liters of IV saline solution, some blood tests, and off to the ICU in Seattle. Although she was in complete renal failure, she was still wise-cracking with the ER doc at Snoqualmie. Looks like it was due only to massive dehydration, and today everything was going in the right direction, although she is not out of the woods yet. She was all plumbed for dialysis, but they decided to hold off to see if she would improve with rehydration, which she did. She filled the old catheter bag overnight, which the ICU doc told me was cause for a round of cheering in the ICU when they found it this morning! She is awake and alert, and if anybody wants to call and cheer her up, the ICU number is 206-215-3406 and she is in room E-649.

Patty,
Glad to hear that you are doing better and that dialysis was averted.

On the "lighter side"......you wouldn't think an owner of a Brewery would allow his wife to get low on fluids... Disgust

Hope you're back on your feet soon and out cruising!
Best Wishes from the "Sea Shift" crew!

Amazing as it may sound, Patty does not drink beer. I did try to coerce her into drinking water, fruit juice, Gatorade, but none of it would stay down...in retrospect, I think I should have insisted on her going to the ER at least 3 -4 days sooner than I did...she thought she had a virus, and just would have to let it run its course. If we had done that, I am fairly sure she would be in a lot deeper trouble, possibly even dead...I am not sure what the moral of the story is, but I am sure glad it is going to have a happy ending.

Please convey our get-well quick wishes to your better half, Pat. Sorry to hear of her illness but it's very good news that her recovery is headed in the right direction. Hope you get her home soon... and, of course, will be waiting on her hand and foot (including making her meals).

Hug Hug
Best wishes,
Jim & Joan

It is indeed a blessing that you brought Patty to the ER. Dehydration is a scary thing. We're so glad that her kidneys are functioning again ---- that full bag was reason to celebrate for sure !!
We wish her a very speedy recovery.

Please let Patty know that everyone on the C-Dory site is pulling for her! How did she manage to keep her sense of humor? I'm afraid I would have been a tad grumpy! What a lady! Give her our best. - Lorraine & Steve
