I can't find the C-Dory 16 forum so I'll just ask my question here. Working on my boat today - moving wires, cleaning up, the styrofoam under the gunwales - two pieces - is breaking apart. Seems kind of cheesy having styrofoam anyways - is this common on C-Dorys . Any other material I can replace it with - or am I being bigoted towards styrofoam and should just leave it alone?
Your thoughts - other 16' owners.

I had little flakes of foam also. It quit flaking now and seems to be in place. I guess it's better than nothing.

Tom – if it is staying in place and not breaking into small pieces, I would not worry about it. A little flaking or a few small pieces coming off will not hurt anything.

I have a new 16 Cruiser and it does not have styrofoam. It appears like some sort of expandable spray foam that has attached itself well to both the hull and the cockpit liner with no signs of deterioration. If you feel you need to repair it, I would call the factory and find out what they are currently using.

My 2005 16 has styrofoam. I was at the new dealers' in fife a couple weeks ago and took a look at the new 16's. They are using what appears to be poured in place foam. They apparently drill holes in the liner and pour it in. They didn't patch the liner, just put in plastic plugs.
