Well folks, I had time for one more addition before Winter & thought many of you would be interested in this latest gismo. On many occasions I will bring up a ball of kelp, mud etc. when retrieving my ground tackle. I have tried tying the chain off at the cleat and do not like that arrangement what so ever. With this chain grab I can position the anchor right at the surface and give it a good cleaning prior to stowing it. If interested you can find a good photo at the end of my album. Thanks Mike on" Huda Thunkit."

I thought that's what a $1000 windlass was for? Laughing

Yup., when the anchor comes up dirty, I just lower it a few feet under with the windlass and go slow till it comes up clean.

If it's weeds, and they won't wash off, I go up on the bow, having passed the windlass remote up through the forward hatch, and deal with it with the boat hook or my hands, etc.

Have to be very careful with a remote and windlass in very close proximity to your feet and hands, etc.

Joe.
