A quick check shows Sea Wolf Joe a mere 328 posts behind me (2,199 to 1,871) as of this moment. At his current rate of about 20 a day, I calculate that he will overtake me in 16 or 17 days...with this damn job (Mayor - if you are reading this, I actually LIKE my job!), there is just no way I can hang in there to fend Joe off (it is lunch time, I am at the brewery, so this post is OK, but my employer somewhat FROWNS on my posting to C-Brats instead of working the rest of the time) so let me do the honorable thing - I SURRENDER right now! You win! Uncle!

Pat – you are hollering Uncle too quickly and often. Nothing in life is easy and if you want to be top dog, it will take courage, will power and a fighting spirit. When you are on top, every tin horn will come gunning for you and you have to fight for your position as top dog. If you go down, do it in a blasé of glory, not running away. You haven’t even gotten a bloody nose yet and already you want to give up.

I checked the post from you and Joe for a two week period. (from the 6th to the 19th of this month)
You had 63 post (4.5 per day)
Joe had 42 post (3.0 per day)

What kind of fuzzy math did you use to come to the conclusion that he would overtake you in 16 or 17 days. The only thing I can figure out is, you must have gone to Evergreen College in Olympia. By my calculations in 16 days, you will have increased your lead to 342 post.

Now get out there and fight for your position as top dog.

Durn right, and, Dave, we resemble that remark about the Evergreen State College! I actually went to Western Washington State College, 1968, Honors in Philosophy, and Rutgers Camden Law School, 1975, Juris Doctor with High Honors (not to boast of course). The commencement speaker for our son Barrett's graduation at Evergreen was Matt Groening, creator of "The Simpsons," a well-known Greener, as was Kramer from "Seinfeld" - not the guy on death row...but that one WILL be hard to live down, I give you that...

Now, Dave, to your advice - well taken. Joe - I hereby REVOKE my surrender!

Pat-

All Right, Bud, it's back to the War! ReVoke, ReSchmoke, ReSmoke, whatever!

I work in spurts, so the sampling period may not be entirely valid, as the margin is, in fact, gradually being reduced.

My GS-5 crashed yesterday, so had to work out of the older iMac Crawler-4 on the other desk, but re-installed the OS on the GS-5 and am back up to Bothersome PITA Velocity!

Hope our fun banter is not bothering the serious folks and dicussions too much. Maybe we should limit the off-the-wall stuff to a few threads and seriously try to avoid hijacking the others. Of course, B~C usually starts it, so we can always blame him!!!

Maybe we need a POLL on how the rest of the C-Brat Family sees our kind of fun stuff, which, incidently, includes a lot of others, not just the two of us!

Another way would be for those who feel we are out of line to send us a PM and tell us so. Or send us a message of reassurance that we're not offending them.

Kinda hard not to joke around with your buds, really.

Joe.

Joe,

Keep it going! Sure beats rocking in front of the fireplace, sipping single malt, and dreaming of fish!

BTW, Les and Kathy, spouses, and dogs head for Shasta in 10 days. Better alert the local constables!!!

Dusty

Have another thought to add-

When I first joined the C-Brat site (old MSN), I felt a little out of the discussions and unsure of myself with all this type of personal give and take that was going on between friends, just like being new to a regular social group. Unfortunately, that feeling is long gone. But some of the newbies may well feel that way at first.
Maybe we're a bit overwhelming to them.

The other dimension in all of this is that after 5 or more years of C-Dory discussion on various sites, you lose some interest in recurring technical topics, and look instead for personal interaction which becomes more meaningful.

Just some thoughts to consider.

Joe.

durn, the headline says "A fun and Informative place", if you can't have fun in the pub, where can you? As winter draws near, I'll wager this place gets a lot more wackier.

We should start a pool, will Joe overtake Pat? if so, on what date? to the winner goes a pack of freezer burned smelt

I'm thinkin' that Pat is disadvantaged in this contest as I'm sure you all remember that he HAD to take a C-Dory cruise to Alaska this summer, which surely must have hindered his ability to make daily postings on this site.

Therefore Joe, I foresee an Alaskan C-Dory Cruise in your very near future just to make all things equal! Wink

Joe, Pat, Dusty, Ken, DaveS and the rest of the C-Brat family especially Mike and Bill, thank you for a great site. It will take the newbie’s a little while to get to know us crazy old farts. Once they do, they will also spend hours trying to understand what is going on and laugh themselves silly with our antics.

Ahem. If Number 2 gets my bait, what does the Champ get?

I think B~C meant the winner of the pool gets the smelt....

On the other hand......how about.....

the loser of the Pat/Joe contest has to change his name to "SLACKER" for 6 months on the site?

Truthfully, although this is so much fun, I reallly don't want to subject our members to any more of this than comes naturally, so the "contest" should be incidental to our fun, and not preoccupy it and the site's business.

Joe.

Pat - you are way over educated. I suspect Joe is also. Not sure about Dusty, Ken or DaveS but I figure if I hang around with you guys long enough, some of it will rub off on me. You see I was a school drop out. You noticed I did not say high school because I quit listening to the teachers or applying myself in junior high school, could have been sooner, don’t remember. I was moved to the next grade just so the current teacher could get rid of me because my dad would not let me drop out.

From that time on, everything I know I taught my self or learned by observing. Now I am a slow learner but eventually I catch on and know how to increase the number of post without saying more. That is use three post to say what I could have said in one.
