On the port side of my 01 22 foot is a compartment with a drain that I am sure is used for fish - I do not fish (don't eat fish) - wondering what other owners have utilized this compartment for besides fish - just trying to consider the possibilities.

Thanks

Ken

When I bought my boat used the owner had used that compartment for cleaning supplies.
I use it to store my sea anchor but plan to plumb it as an additional live well and use it as fish storage for Salmon trips.

That compartment is a lazarette locker, and kinda matches the one on the starboard side except it's set up to be closed-bottomed so it can be made into a bait well or live well.

Some non-fishing folks use it to hold the second, or third, or forth battery.

Outside of that, it can be used for just about whatever you need extra storage for: ropes, fenders, anchors, crabbing gear, canvas parts, etc.

It's not always waterproof (depending on your individual boat), so keep that in mind.

Joe.

I purchased a soft side cooler used for transportation of ice cream. Shoved it in to insulate the compartment, and use it for an ice chest for drinks. Ice lasts a day and a half, no cooler in the cockpit to trip over. Works for me.

It's a frozen daiquiri mixing and containment unit. It's also the first place the Fish Police will look.
