Nope, sure don't. But wish you had joined the C-Brats a bit sooner, say about a month, would have loved to have hooked up with you in Ketchikan. Daydream and Anna Leigh arrived in K from Washington State on June 17, and after some cruising back in K on June 24...dinners at Bar Harbor Restaurant and New York Cafe, tied up at Ketchikan Yacht Club in Thomas Basin...sorry we missed you!

Hi Folks,
Our friend Dun of CT YANKEE swears by the MR HEATER. Takes less space, safe. It won't kill you if it is left on. Cheaper and easier to store. I am going to get one for my boat. Uses screw top propane bottles that are available in any hardware store in the country.
Just an idea.

I use my Mr. Buddy heater here in New England maybe 2-3 times a year, and never overnight, so it is perfect for me. In Alaska, I would think you might need something more robust and permanent. It's cold cruising up there!

Dun, actually in SE AK in June, I would describe it more as "damp" than "cold"! My overriding memory of our trip will forever be damp socks!

Hey Pat A.
Were you the guys that stoped in to Meyers Chuck?
(The hike from hell)
If so, I'm Bart Meyer of the Meyers Chuck Meyers.
I never tire of saying that!
As for the hike to the lake. I'd say its more of a Hike From Heck. Made the Hike since I was but a wee lad. The trail following the comunity water line is the best way to go! Their used to be a little row boat up there we would all use to get to a small island in the far end of the lake. Its one of my favorite spots on earth.
You all are officialy invited to come up to Meyers Chuck next 4th of July. Its the best beach party of the year. Earth oven roasted pig on the beach fresh seafood and topped off with fireworks. Best 4th party in Alaska.
Thank for letting me rant. |

Hey Bart, I'm guessing from what they wrote about their hike to the lake that they CAN'T WAIT to take that leisurely stroll again! _________________ Dave S.

Indeed we are! With host Nancy Olson, the Meyers Chuck bark weaver, accompanied by her late husband Ken's brother Dave Olson and nephew Alan Olson, who came up with me on Daydream, and David McKibben from Anna Leigh. I stand corrected, it was only the hike from heck! But I doubt you will get Patty to along with that one...

We just moved from Kodiak, Alaska and used our Mr. Buddy heater in January out trolling. It worked great and the bottles last a long time. We were toasty warm all day long. We paid $89.00 for ours and it was worth every penny.

But would you sleep with her at night? (referring to the heater, of course!)

We didn't have our C-Dory up in Alaska but given the same situation down here if it ever gets cold....lol............the answer is yes. The unit has a built in low oxygen sensor that will shut it off and also a shut off if it tips over. To be even safer we would leave the window cracked open a bit and have a CO dectector, which is always the smart thing to have anyway.
It is a great little unit that enabled us to be out there on some very cold days. We even turned it on some days when it was just a little bit cold just enough to take the edge off until it warmed up. |
