If you do laptop, today's WOOT is about the cheapest way to experiment with GPS mapping I've ever seen. $49 for the GPS receiver and the MS mapping software.

No, this isn't a commercial ad, I'm just addicted to WOOT. (Oh, if you want to know why I never considered moving to Alabama, click on the "Wootcast" icon and enjoy. Wink

P.S. The GPS receiver will work with marine mapping software as well....!
