Donna & Rick (416rigby) were at our home this morning (Bellingham). They said to tell all of you hello. They left here about 9:45 AM. They'll be picking up their C-Dory (FOGGY DEW) in Nevada, then heading south into Byrdman territory. We wish we could have kept them in the PNW. Really enjoyed their company. Just great folks Thumbs Up

Byrdman, you have new neighbors!

Rick phoned today to let us know that Foggy Dew and family have arrived in Alabama. Sure happy to hear that they had a good safe trip. Rick said that there wasn't any problems towing their new CD or with their pickup. Slept on the CD as planned except for one night when the mosquitoes chased them into a motel room.

Whew! What a lonnnnnngggggg drive...3300 miles! It went very well, though. No major hiccups. We'll post more later. Been real busy getting set up in our new home...and tinkering with the boat...still waiting on our stuff to be delivered...could be a couple more weeks yet.

Thanks again to Ruth and Joe...you guys are wonderful and your hospitality won't be forgotten!

Marc...we're very much looking forward to getting together with you and doing some fishing after we get settled in sometime. We'll give you a call for sure. We enjoyed your company at the Pensacola show...I think we'll have fun no matter what we catch!

It's been way too hot for us Alaskans to be out on the water...we're shooting for a sea trial on Tuesday. I did hook up the rabbit ears yesterday and fired up the engine in the driveway. I think we're going to really enjoy this boat.

Rick & Donna

That's all just great to hear!

I bet the little climate change is pretty noticeable. But imagine how miserable it would be if ou had towed some other brand of boat that far.

Hey Rick and Donna!!! Welcome to "Balmy-Bama". OK, put all those dark t-shirts away until winter. They will work good under longer shirts in the winter. Keep the pictures of yourselves in the heavy coats. You may travel back up north sometime...and you'll have forgotten how to put them on. Go ahead and start figuring out how you and Donna are going to AC your boat... for sleeping at night at least. Be sure you have a good boarding ladder on your boat. As you can tell...ya gotta stay wet during the day down here to make it tollerable. CoolSmile Yep that is a long drive...but .... it should have been a cool trip now that the impresion of your truck seat is off yur cheeks... Mr. Green Sherryl and I are up in TN, and will return for Tuesday thru Friday, then will be gone again till 10Jul06. Then....sometime around 14-17Jul06, I will be heading down to Apalachicola to pick up C-Byrd....and do some "pre-cooking"/grill testing at John's river house, the location of our October Gathering. I like to cook in a pit a time or two prior to the gang showing up. Sending you my cell phone nubmer again just in case it is "in temporary storage".... or in one of the brief cases/bags you are traveling with. Talk soon. Great to have you down...and if you want to go to Lake Martin on Tuesday/Wednesday... I will be glad to show you around.

.What a great time was had in Lake Martin Alabama with our new C-Dory owning frieds who just arrived from Alaska!!

Introduced the couple to the finer arts of boating in the 97 degree heat with 85%+ humidity....and a little "noodle riding" to beat the heat and enjoy the boat.

Rick and Donna for sure have a beautiful C-Dory. A very succesful intial launch, C-Trial & recovery.... and the noodle training had both of the crew "noodle certified" by days end....all be it a bit red'r bodies... CoolSmile Thumbs Up

Thanks, Patrick...we owe ya!! We had a wonderful time on the lake...84 degree water! Heck, in Kodiak, jumping into the water was a BAD thing...down here it's how ya survive! Laughing This heat and humidity is killin' us.

The Byrdman was a great help showing us the hazard spots on the lake to be aware of and also just showing us around. We just love the boat...and having Patrick onboard for the first run was a whole mess of fun. Thumbs Up

We should have our new name and numbers for the boat by Friday, and we'll officially christen her with a pint of Guinness. Beer

Now, you don't think we're going to let you off easy, do you? Here's Patrick on his noodle.

Super. Thanks, Rick. I initially called the seller 'cause I wanted to see it and thought it was local. Looks like you got yourself a great boat.

Looks like you folks are having a great time in the deep south! Here on the River and Bay in Virginia, we've still got the bilge pumps running after 10-15" of rain in the past few days.

Quite a sight. Are harpoons banned in the lake? Hope so... Twisted Evil Laughing Disgust

Nice photos, Rick. He's definitely got it set up for Mexican waters. I'm looking at a much more modest installation that doesn't require a thru hull. If it doesn't work as advertised, I'm gonna be duplicating your setup for sure.
