Has anyone tried the Anchor Shade sold by Overtons?
It is a single 8' pole supported 6' x 6' square umbrella with four adjustable straps. I am looking for an inexpensive bimini like top for use in my 25' C-Dory while at the dock or at anchor. The Anchor Shade sells for $160.00 and looks like it would fill the bill.
Anyone tried one of them?

Here's a link to the Anchor Shade.
I use a 6 foot diameter umbrella set up on a PVC pipe holder centered on the front of the transom well for the same purpose here on Shasta Lake in the 100 degree plus sumnmer heat.
Nice having only one pole and no straps, i.e., much simpler. Eassier to stow, too. Can simply close it down and wrap it with a bungee when at speed.
Have to lock it down when open with a clamp in the holder, though, because a wind gust can lift in right out of the pipe! Don't ask me how I know!!!

We have used the Anchorshade on several boats. It works well for the cockpit of our 22 foot cruiser. We use S-Hooks on the straps and it takes only a minute to set up. You do have the center pole in your cockpit, but we still have room for two folding chairs and our cooler. You can motor with it in very calm conditions and as slow speeds. Note: 2 S_Hooks go to the stern cleats and 2 hook into the window frames of the pilot house. _________________ Pat & Fred Messerly |
