Very nice Mod!! Bet it cuts some of the engine noise too when at speed! Another great benefit.

Dan..... You are Da' Man! That looks great! I really like the little brackets you made with your saw and router. They look real nice with the rounded edges rather than being square. I am proud of you.

Just a quick comment/observation here....
That looks like the 150 gallon Igloo cooler (or bigger). The two latches that hold the cooler lid down are, at least on the cooler that I have had experience with, designed to be "quick release". You can lift the lid up, the latches will catch a little, you let the lid down a little bit, then pull up again and the lid will open. You don't have to actually unlatch the lid.
You may want to confirm that your latches are "quick release" because the wind will catch the lid and rip it off. If they are the "quick release" type, then you may have to put a latch that, I think, is called a "Jeep Latch". This will not let the lid fly off the cooler on the highway.
Anyway, I speak from experience on this one

If you are not tripping on it then what do you sit on? And how do you get old, or fat, or old fat people in and out? Just thinking out loud.

Your cooler rack looks good. I thought of doing something similar but felt like maybe the cooler would get in the way there too. I decided on the Canyon fish bag. If I don't catch anything it's not in the way at all. I put snaps on the handles so it snaps to the transom. So far it works great. The bag was $100 online.
This is the 20" x 60" bag. It will actually hold quite a few fish. |

Dan,
Tell us about how your engine noise reduction was? I think I know the answer, but want to hear it from the horses mouth. _________________ Mike Taylor

I am going to make mine out of alder as I didn't want to buy 20' of 1" decking. But I have been to Lowes' and HD and neither has the tubing. Anyone have any ideas where it would be easily obtainable? That has to cut the noise down some, especially at speed. |
