Since Jim has posted that his boat has sold ( the San Diego boat) we can let you all know that we have bought it. He is a great guy and made things really easy for us. The deal won't be totally done for a couple of weeks but the deposit is made and we are just waiting on final arrrangements
WE ARE SO EXCITED!
We only have one picture so far but more to follow as we get them. We created a new album called the New Foggy Dew. We will have to do the appropriate denaming and renaming ceremony once we arrive in Alabama and I am sure Patrick will help us with that........
Thanks to those of you that gave us the heads up on this boat. Things happened really quickly once we knew about it.
The boat is beautiful and has some nice extras that we didn't even know about even though we agreed to buy it. The freaky thing is that we were looking for a green boat and this one already has a Shamrock and an Irish name......it was an omen.
Besides the regular stuff...standard for 2000 models, it has an opening center window, 110 volt refrigerator, outrigger mounts, live bait well with pump, plumbed trailer brake flushing, roll down curtains in the cabin and bimini top. We will look forward to adding some extra projects in the future but for now........Just Perfect! I am sure we will have tons of questions to ask!
Here is the only pic that we have.....

Congratulations, Rick. Given your Coastie specialty, I expect to see some great "projects" on the new boat once you both hit Alabama. According to Byrdman Pat, it's the state with more navigable rivers than any other state, so you should have no lack of places to explore and the shallow draft C-22 is perfectimundo.
Fitting that you're closing the deal right around St. Patrick's Day as well.
Have fun, I hope to meet ya some day up river. One of our goals is to explore around Florence AL as well as attending one of the Byrdman's gatherings.

Glad you got the boat. Sounds like the boat of your dreams. I may do a special update of the charts so your boat is added to them. Since I just did the update, I normally would not do on another update until mid April. _________________ Dave

Dave,
Wow, thanks but don't go to any trouble as we will be moving in June...so our location will change.
Don,
I am sure there will be tons to tinker with over time and will post pics of modifications we make. We look forward to meeting you in Bama as well......and also hope to make some other gatherings as work permits.
Jeff and Jule.......thanks....life is good
It is going to be fun, thinking of things to modify to make it ours. Sometimes just little things make a difference. |

Congrats Rick! I too thought that the magical appearance of a green boat was kismet. However, with what you learned from the other thread you can paint this one blue in the future (but only if you want it to go faster ).
Best,

Well, Rick, you've done it now. A long time ago, in a thread far, far away, your wonderful wife wrote:
Quote: | A C-Dory would be our only choice for replacement of my beloved Wooldridge…”The Foggy Dew”…our fishing machine.
Although I am quite happy to reside in the background, pulling the anchor, canning the catch, baiting the hooks, and reeling in the big ones (Captain Rick navigates) I decided to wipe off the fish slime and hit the keys...
...So, with that said, I have hooks to sharpen, nets to mend, guns to bear and a boat to keep clean in case an opportunity arises for the Foggy Dew to become the Foggy Dew II.
Donna (the wife of the mighty one) |
Them days are gone. Now she'll be making you take off your boots before coming in the cabin, she will do the navigating, and you will be in trouble for touching the curtains with your grimy hands. Fish slime in the boat? Forget it. Your bait and beer just got replaced by flowers and tea. We tried to tell you. Almost everyone on this board kept saying, "Don't buy a C-Dory". But no, you did and now you're toast. I can't recall - does your new boat have a windlass? If not, you better get one. That's the only way you will ever get her to pull an anchor again. A cabin and a heater is all it takes to turn the deckhand into an Admiral, and the only thing she'll be tying for you from now on is your ascot.
Congratulations. I'm very happy for you guys!

Come on now, guys, there will be no painting... after all, you remember that famous line that Kermit sang long ago..."It's not easy...bein' green..." lol
Charlie, I fix 'em and ride in 'em...operate the rescue hoist and other stuff....and hey, Depoe Bay is nice. Lived in North Bend for 4 years and flew all up and down the Oregon coast. Pretty country...nice and green...lol
Dan...how the heck does one operate outriggers, anyway? The mounts are on the boat, but no poles. I think tuna is in our future.
Ahh, them was glory days, I say! Obviously your tongue is planted firmly in that cheek, Mike...I've seen Donna elbow-deep in a white tail buck's ribs...but that's another story...she's not shy about getting dirty! Geeze, I'm the tea totler in the family. She's the coffee (and scotch) guru. And frilly? HA! Wait til you meet her. lol
Funny, we were sitting around joking last night that I'll have to get an outfit like Thurston Howell and sit on the fantail sipping a sundowner while smoking my pipe. "Oh, Lovey! I wonder how the the other half lives?!" lol
Thanks everyone for your best wishes...we're totally stoked.

Wow, it has started out to be a great weekend. We just talked to the gentleman that we are buying our new boat from and he informed us that our boat is actually a 2001 and not the 2000 that he thought. As an extra bonus he forgot to tell us that the boat has auto pilot. Looking forward to picking it up. |
