Is anyone else having problems accessing most of the website? I’d say one in ten search results will open. I know there was talk of a lockdown due to an attack, but haven’t been able to find any mention of this. The irony for me is it didn’t happen until after I bought a C-Dory! I really miss being able to look up previously asked and answered questions. Thank you to the site administrators for maintaining this archive of knowledge. I hope very much it is an easy fix. _________________ 2005 C-Dory 22 (TBD formerly Salty-C) (2025 - present) |

Have you tried both searches - the one with the little magnifying glass and the one "Enhanced by Google"? If you made a comment on one of the threads you are searching you can also find it under "My topics".
Sometimes I have seen "You cannot make another search so soon". Usually if I go back "Home" then re toggle the page it appears.

I had NOT tried both searches. Thank you! I gave up on the magnifying search a long time ago in favor of the "enhanced by Google" or searching in Google itself plus adding c-brats to the query. It seems the magnifying glass search is working great, as I can open the threads just fine. (The new problem being they're not always related!) Thanks again-- this will be very helpful to get me through until the site migration. The Enhanced by Google search bar is definitely broken / not playing nice when accessing C-Brat links through Google. |

Yes, I have been having those search issues as well. I use the Enhanced by Google search box. I would find what I was looking for, and then when I clicked on the link, I would be taken to a page that says, Unable to Connect. I didn't know about the magnifying glass search, and just tried it. It brings up a lot more than I want, but then going back to read it learned to put "and" in between more than one word to make sure it doesn't look for each word separately. That does seem to work better. Colby |

Sounding like a broken record, but...we are SO CLOSE.
I'm spinning up the replacement server today for final configuration, migration and testing. The actual migration plans to be announced soon. There's little doubt in my mind y'all will welcome what's coming. Hopefully within 2-3 weeks. Trust the pain is worth it.
Lastly - I've heard several reports of people still not being able to access the current site, even though it's up and running fine. These reports have all been due to cache issues on browsers, so if you're not familiar with the process head over to your favorite search engine and ask it how to clear cache on your browser. While I realize anyone impacted right now can't see this, cache does clear out on its own after a period of time - so hopefully those who were impacted earlier will take note of this.
Nerd details: While clearing browser cache resolves the problem, the cause has been my routine moving of the C-Brats behind Cloudflare when the DDOS attacks hit, then removing the Cloudflare configuration when the attack subsides. As mentioned elsewhere, this is currently necessary to keep the photo albums functioning, as they don't work when the site is behind Cloudflare.
Trouble is, when moving behind Cloudflare - the site changes to HTTPS / SSL, secure connections and browsing like all modern sites provide. When I remove the Cloudflare configuration, the site reverts to HTTP - no secure connections. Many browsers remember the secure connection, and once they've connected this way they have trouble reverting to HTTP connections when Cloudflare is removed from the picture. Clearing the browser cache resets everything.
Blah blah blah...again, the important bit is all of this pain will be gone soon. _________________

Will,
I’ve got to ask: will it be easier to post pics after? _________________ Clay

Dude...to steal a semi-famous line - so easy, even a caveman can do it.
Media of all sorts is going to be easy and awesome. Everything will look and work great on phones. All the cool kids will want to join us.
