We took our 25 Cruiser out for her first longer trip this weekend and noticed somewhat poor fuel consumption relative to the several posts from others.
Acknowledging the caveats that loading, sea state, driving style, prop geometry, etc. all play significant roles in this figure the calculated fuel economy over ~80nm was ~1.6 nm/gal. I was averaging something like 4000-4300 rpm. or 15-18kts. Water was calm. Wind negligible. 2 adults and 2 small kiddos. Experimented with trim, etc.
When I see others post economy figures nearly 2X for 25 Cruiser applications I wonder if something is wrong.
I'm looking for suggestions as to cause or if anyone else has experienced similar economy figures.
I'm bringing her into Performance Marine asap to inquire about this condition and some other things related to engine/fuel asap. Will post more as I discover it.
BTW, our first trip was GREAT -- out of Everett down to Winslow, on to Blake Is., around the west side of Bainbridge Is. to Brownsville and Liberty Bay and back home. We're excited for more. _________________ --------------

I repowered with a DF200 in May, now have 60 hrs on the motor.
Fuel usage AVERAGE is 2 - 2.5 mpg, a little bit better than the 3000hr DF175(2012) motor Prop is a suzy 3 blade stainless 16dia. x 17p. (6000 rpm @ WOT) |

Mounting hole and trim are the two factors, as well as boat weight. Is the anti ventillation plate running right on the surface when running on a plane? What is max speed and RPM at wide open throttle?
It is possible for these boats to pick up a lot of weight from the water under the cockpit deck, around the fuel tank. We find that the best running attitude is with both a Permatrim and the trimtabs.
What brand of prop--diameter and pitch, and propo number? _________________ Bob Austin
