I just picked up my first C-Dory yesterday! I have been reading and searching here for a few months though. My new-to-me 25 Cruiser was bought late last year at auction in Florida and was last registered in PA in 2019 to someone with a female name. The original motor only had just over 500 hours on it. It is currently named Tiger. I am curious if anyone is familiar with the boat's history? (to start, I am curious about many things, but I will try to search and read first). Also, I have a couple of farm collies that will be adventuring with me, so a friend has suggested the name C-Shepherd and I am wondering if there is already a member of the community using that name?
From Richmond Vermont, very near Burlington and Lake Champlain, and Quebec.
Thanks,
Rod _________________ Rod West

Welcome aboard C-Brats. I like the name C-Shepherd. I can't say that I've ever seen or heard that name. You could probably just do a search here on C-Brats for C-Shepherd or Tiger, and see if anything pops up. Colby |

Rod, Welcome aboard. Dogs go well with the 25. We have cruised with 2 labs, with border collie, and 2 other dogs at one time... I had not seen a 25 named "Tiger" any any of our gatherings in Florida.
The Name "Sea Shepard" is nice, but there is a Sea Shepard
"conservation" group--and at least one of their ships has been named "Sea Shepard". There are some controversy about the tactics used by "Sea Shepard" toward Whaling vessels, including jamming their propellers and disabling them. A search of the Coast Guard data base of documented vessels named Sea Shepard reveals two vessels: one is 20 feet long, and may be a landing craft type of vessel (It is hard to find many reacreational boats of 20' which have the 5 Ton volume required for documentation-and that would suggest a very high freeboard boat.) That boat is registered in New York. The other is a 37 footer that is registered in Deleware, and is held by a corporation, little is available on the internet. Having several boat names the same is not usually a problem. However in this case, you might not by accident want to beconfused with the "Sea Shephard" anti whaling vessel. _________________ Bob Austin
