Enjoyable article about doing the Great Loop in C-Dorys.

This article is also in this months Soundings magazine but I do not see it on the Soundings magazine website yet.

Jeff, thanks for posting the link. I had missed it in the February issue for some reason. I often skim Power and Motor Yacht instead of reading all of the articles. _________________ Bob Austin

Thanks for posting.
I was hoping he would get into the day-to-day logistics of doing the Great Loop in a small boat, especially with a dog (and no dinghy), but enjoyed the article nonetheless. |

It is a little hard for me to understand why in 2009 he did not buy a proper chart plotter instead of using a Garmin automobile GPS. He made it sound like anchoring was a extraordinary event. I prefer the way Salty with Jonathan Arthur and Rosie have done the Loop multiple times with different routes all in a C Dory 22.
Apparently he outfitted at Tom Cat with 140 Suzukis, and shorter shafts so he did not have to raise the motors when in shallow water. That seems as if it would negate the advantages of speed in rougher waters of the Tom Cat. |
