Hey Gary. Help me out here. I've got 72+ photos I've selected in my first round of weeding out. These are photos I've taken this year at Hontoon, Lake Powell and the PNW. So a couple questions that may help me weed a number of them out. What specifically are we looking for? Or what don't we want? Boats out of the water on their trailers? I've got a number of shots with C-Traveler on her trailer launching or loading and boaterhoming. How about other boats in the photo? I've got some nice Lake Powell shots, but with Bill's Ranger Tug with C-Traveler, or with C-Traveler and Little Joe. (Little Joe is a 22.) I've got a number of shots of other boats I took while leading the cruise around the Hontoon Loop. Some of those I don't know if I can include owners names (I might be able to look them up on a gathering roster, if I can find it.) How about photos of C-Traveler I did not take, but not sure who did? How about shots that don't necessarily center on the boat. Ie, I've got some distant shots that the boat is in, but not necessarily the focal point of the photo. Anyway, just looking to weed a lot more photos out, but wondering what folks prefer. Personally, I've stated many times these are trailerable boats, and I would be just as happy to see a few photos of boats in their trailering views along the roads and in the process of launching and loading. Or among other boats on the water. But that's just me. Also, what about the photos I submitted last year? Are those still available and able to be captured for submission? (I might be able to find my old emails in archives....but with all the new photos, I'm not as motivated to find them again. ) Colby |

Good Questions Colby!
Let me answer them as best I can. Note that Ive never selected the photos. Julie does that. Harvey has helped her in the past.
Q1: What specifically are we looking for? Or what don't we want? Boats out of the water on their trailers? I've got a number of shots with C-Traveler on her trailer launching or loading and boaterhoming.
A1: In the past, the calendar has focused on boats in the water where the boat is emphasized along with an interesting background or foreground. I do think that a boat on the trailer, or launching/retrieving might be interesting. I do think a variety of surroundings / activities is good.
Q2: How about other boats in the photo? I've got some nice Lake Powell shots, but with Bill's Ranger Tug with C-Traveler, or with C-Traveler and Little Joe. (Little Joe is a 22.)
A2: The only time Ive seen other types of boats is in group shots on the dock where there are a great number of C-Dorys. Remember that we are always looking for a wide variety of C-Dory boats: 16, 19, 22 Angler, 22 Cruiser, 23 Venture, 25 Cruiser, 26 Venture, TomCat, and the few unique hulls like the 27.
Q3: I've got a number of shots of other boats I took while leading the cruise around the Hontoon Loop. Some of those I don't know if I can include owners names (I might be able to look them up on a gathering roster, if I can find it.)
A3: I would have to defer to Julie on this, but Ive had pics of others boats included in past calendars where I did not know all owners / boat names.
Q4: How about photos of C-Traveler I did not take, but not sure who did?
A4: Again, I will defer to Julie. Im not sure if there is a legal issue. However, if the picture is of your boat and it was sent to you, I would think that it might be OK.
Q5: How about shots that don't necessarily center on the boat. I've got some distant shots that the boat is in, but not necessarily the focal point of the photo.
A5: Past calendars tended to have the boat as a major portion of the image.
Q6: Also, what about the photos I submitted last year?
A6: Julie still has all photos that were submitted last year. Consider them already submitted.
Last thoughts: The bottom line is that this is a C-Dory calendar and C-Dory boats should take center stage.
Looking forward to seeing your photos.
-Colleen

Thanks Gary. Not sure if that helps me weed out very many photos. But it gives me some idea. Colby |
