|
|
Hello everyone!
My husband and I have had an older little 16' angler for many years. It's brought us a lot of joy but since hubby got ill a few years ago the poor thing has been sitting in our driveway. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be using it again in the future.
My question to all of you is what should I do - I think it's been sitting too long because the main motor doesn't seem to work. The kicker is fine. The boat itself is in good shape. Should I try to sell it to someone who wants a little project boat (really cheaply) or should I just donate it to our local boat salvage place for a fee? I've kind of been leaning towards the salvage place because they might have more contacts for people who want a small project boat.
Just looking for some advice. It's funny how emotionally attached we can become to little cdorys. I feel obligated to do the right thing for our little fishing boat.
I apologize if in advance if I've posted this in the wrong subforum. |

Depending on where you live you should see if one of the C-Brat members might be able to help look at the boat and give you an honest value.
The C-Brat community seems to alway step up when asked regarding advice, and useful information 👍.
Our “little dorys” are very well built and hold their resale value. They do not last very long once they are posted for sale.
Just my 2cents

CBrats seems like it's definitely a great group from the discussions I've read through. I wish we could still use our little boat and join people on some of your planned outings (but I think the wish list would also need to include younger and healthier in addition to a working boat).
Thank you for the kind reply and good advice. |

I would suggest putting up for sale on the "C Dory for sale by owner". I believe you will get a better price, and it is more likely to go to someone who has the skills to do the boat justice.
If you could post a couple of photos, that would help. A minimum suggested price would be $5,000--and see what happens. I suspect it would go fast at that price. _________________ Bob Austin
