I wanted to share my final version of a fiberglass generator/ utility platform I made for my boat. I am able to use this underway at cruising speed also.

Waypoint, that looks very slick. What generator is that?

Thanks! It’s the Honda EU2200 Companion (with 30amp socket).

Waypoint,
Is that 30amp socket putting lout 30 amps with the 2200 companion or is there another eu2200I in line?
Also, do the engines tilt all the way out of the water with this arrangement?
Nice work, looks professional.

The 30 amp socket is putting out 1850watts consistent load. I have one generator, I bought the Companion model only for the 30amp plug. I found using the 20 amp plug it tends to pull out easily from the weight of the shore power cord. For me, I wanted a clean installation that’s why I am using the companion model. The engines tilt all the way up and the platform supports 350lbs of weight.

What a beautiful job! I particularly like the molded-in foot holders. What a great idea. You obviously know your way around a shop!

I can't claim any particular expertise or skill, but I built a generator platform for my CC Venture - a boat with a full-height transom. The net relative location of the platform is about the same as yours, but I had to hang mine off the aft face of the transom to make it fit, and the generator has to ride abeam to allow full tilt & turn of the twin engines. If anyone with a CC or CD Venture model or other full-transom boat is interested, pictures are here :
http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album1468&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

Again, my hat is off to you for great design and execution!

Thanks Noro Lim! This is actually my 3rd attempt at making a generator shelf. As you know how difficult this can be. I checked out the shelf you made for your boat, great idea with the aluminum bracket clips. The brace underneath of your shelf looks almost identical as the one underneath mine. Great job. I went with the raised molded foot brackets because using a sunken hole actually rotted out the wooden one that I had made before this one. Thanks again!

Great Job, Mark!

I think multimediasmith managed to plumb a three way fuel valve after his fuel filter into a plumbed Honda Extended Run gas tank cap to make a semi-permanent system that never requires pouring gas into the Honda.

Get the anti-theft Honda handle bar for the Honda grab handle for better security.

Thanks, someday maybe I'll get that...
John

I tried that one my Honda EU1000. It could not draw fuel hard enough to get a constant flow. The generator would run poorly and surge. I ended up using a 3 gallon outboard tank that I can place closer to the generator. Maybe the 2000 has better fuel suction.

We made our Honda 2200 "theft proof" by removing the 5 mm machine screws holding the leg to the "feet" with ones of the correct thickness of the platform, with a recessed metric machine screw. No one tried to steal the Honda. It wold be unusual for a thief to carry a specific allen wrench for these SS srews.

Very nice work! Thank you for sharing with photos.

John, or anyone with experience with the hose cap for the Honda generators. How would i get the fuel from the tank under the floor to the generator? It would seem to me that it would require a fuel pump to push the fuel up to the cap. I have the eu2000i generator on a platform similar to the one shown that sits approximately level with the top of the motor well.

Hello Waypoint, Nice job on your project.
I see some sort of aluminum fuel tank across the back under the engine well. Could you describe this tank. is is a larger capacity than the normal tanks.....(learning here).

Thanks! This is the original fuel tank that came with the boat. It is two tanks in one. Each side holds 27 gallons, I can hold a total of 54 gallons. I got lucky with this boat, having such a large fuel cap. When I re-powered, the tank had to come out. I had the opportunity to clean the outside tank and inspect it. This is why it looks so shiny. Thanks again.
