Howdy All,

Does any have or seen a setup on a 16' Angler?
I am think of going with
Amazon: 45LBS Marine Electric Anchor Winch, 12V Windlass Anchor Winch with Remote Control Saltwater Boat Windlass Kit with 100-feet Pre-Wound Anchor Rope

Any thoughts?

I apologize for being a downer: You would be wasting your $154.

The line is 5 mm. or about 3/16" to be generous. It only pulls 45".. Uses #14 wire, probably not marine grade. How do you get it to level wind? What if you have to pull the line by hand? Where is the chain? How do you atatch this line to the anchor? We don't know what material the line is, or its elasticity. You have a reasonable good chance of loosing any "good" anchor. It might be workable for a mushroom vinyl coated 8# anchor, as you may see for shallow water anchorage of a 10' aluminum skiff. I would not use it on that.

I can think of a nunber of reasons.

Bob, I don't know if you looked at the correct winch on Amazon. The $154 marine winch listed there has a 100' nylon anchor rope with an eye on the end.

That said, I agree that this might be somewhat underpowered for a 16 ft C-Dory, and yes it would also need a chain. Also, I don't think 100 ft of a 700 lbs test anchor line is adequate. Depending on the water depths I would suggest at least 150 ft with 6 - 10 ft of chain.
