Just seeing video of some destruction happening on the west coast from some storm surges. Almost looked like some C-Dory's in one of the videos, being tossed about in a marina. Hope all our C-Brats on the west coast are safe.

We had a pretty good blow up on Vancouver Island over the Christmas holiday. A few ferry runs were cancelled from Nanaimo to Vancouver but we managed to get on a later boat when they started running again. Made for a long day coming home to Port Orchard. I don't believe I would have been wanting to cross the Straights of Georgia in my C-Dory during that time. Happy New Year to all of the CBrats out there. Have a safe and happy 2025.

My daughter who went to UC Santa Cruz and was part of the sailing program there, was in La Jolla at the same time as this storm. She said the big waves were coming onto the beach and. cliffs there.

We have been out of Santa Cruz a number of times--it is a bad scene with winds from the Surf. The bar there can be tricky with winds and waves out of the South.

In the Long Beach area when we had a Tsunami warning, I would take out boats out to sea. Much safer there.

It's been blowing 60 knots in South Hecate Strait this past week, even 75 knots one day!

We were down in Coos bay for the holiday and the storms were one after another. big winds and surf on he beaches. all the bar crossings were closed. At the entrance to Winchester and coos bay the surf was at least 10ft in the channel. I looked at windy and wave watch one day and 200 miles off shore it was 50ft at 30 seconds... yeah no..
