Hello all, I recently got my hands on a 27 foot long cabin. I joined this group to get as much info on these boats as I can.
How are they. Choppy seas? 3-4 foot waves ect
It currently has a 175 Yamaha which I will be removing and replacing with a 200 Honda. All the c-dory boats I’ve see. In the wild have all had smaller size outboards which begs to question as to how it’s possible. Flat bottom hull on the lighter side I guess but this 27 is not necessarily a light boat. I have not. Rena or to find much online as to the specs of the boat. Thanks for letting me join y’all group. Can’t wait to put this in the water and see how she rides

Ask the moderator for a photo album and post picture, would like to see it.
I think there is a few 27 ft of various design here in Alaska. If you search this site, you might find some info on those.

There are a handful of the 27's. The modern 25's are often outfitted with a 200 hp. Any other 27 today would probably have 600 hp, with 2 x 300 outboards.

What is the VIN number? Does yours have the fish hold?

Congratulations and welcome aboard!

I don’t have the hull Id number on me at the moment but yes it does have the fish hold. I assume it’s a fish hold.

Good evening. I have owned since 2010 a 27 long cabin cdory. They are a flat bottom boats with two skegs on the bottom for directional control. Mine is powered with a 225 hp honda. Which is a great motor for my use. I can cruise on plane from anywhere between 14 mph to 30 mph and get 2.25 mpg. She is hand full at higher speeds and in following seas. she is long and narrower then a 25 in comparison so is tipsy side to side and touchy to weight balance. trim tabs are a must. She is really not designed to go 30 and is better suited to cruise at 22. so what do you need for a motor? well a 175 will run here up to 18? a 200 would work as I almost never run wot. I was looking at mercurys as a replacement because a merc 225 is 180lbs lighter then a honda 225. thats a low. What floor plan is your boat in the back? mine has a off shore bracket and the tanks just behind the cabin. I know some have the tanks at the stern and a motor well. I would love to see some photos. They are great over night boatsif you set them up right. I have added a fridge. rebuilt the kitchen, added diesel heat, rebuilt the head which is just inside the cabin. Some heads where in the vbreth. Lots of other projects. Feel free to pm me or call me. 425 220 6567.

Hi! I’m the lady trying to document all of the 27’ hulls! Please please please PM me and/or find me on Facebook and send me a friend request. I’m also collecting photos of each hull as well as documenting the configuration of each hull (original and modified) so I can see how many of the original 24 hulls exist. I’ve got hull #10 which is an extra long house w/a 200hp Yahmaha and I’ll say I was impressed with the 12” draw but not pleased with how unstable it can be on step. If you have passengers they literally cannot move or it throws your steering off. On her maiden run I had to slow down and make sure nobody made any sudden moves! Lol

I think the weight of an inboard or I/O engine in the back would probably help keep it a bit more stable but it just takes adjusting to how it handles. I haven’t run a boat in over 20 years and I grew up on sailboats & my grandpa’s 24’ Uniflite with a deep V so it was definitely an adjustment for me. Pretty light in the water and will take some getting used to for sure.

Mine was previously the C-Dolphin out of Ketchikan, renamed the Marmian, then the Marion Lee, haven’t given her a new name yet.

I’m a little curious how many different configurations there are. StarCrafttom said it is flatbottomed but there is one for sale on Craigslist right now and it doesn’t look like a deep V but it isn’t flat.

Yes, but you can steer the boat by walking from one side of the cockpit to the other.

OOOHH. You found a unicorn. That is not a 27 cruiser but a 27 offshore. The offshore cdorys had a deep vee. completely different hull then most cdorys. Very few made. I only got to ride in one . That was called "Great northen" I think. It was a 26. I think this is most likely a 26 also. It will have a very nice ride. No hull slap in the short chop , will track better and will stay level as people move around ( not tilt over). its more of the cdory version of the sea sport hull. That is the cool boat.

I might buy it if it were a long cabin version. Seems like a good deal.

Sunny, sounds like you are dialed into the 27 scene but if you’re looking for photos of 27 footers in Alaska check out my “C-Dory Portfolio” album, I’ve collected some photos from sightings and for sale ads and there are a handful of 27 footers in there (one of them might be yours!). I know of two others in Anchorage neighborhoods I’ve not tried to photograph.

I’d never heard the term “offshore” used to describe the deep vee 26+ older hulls. There are photos of at least two of these in the same album mentioned above. One I saw again in the Valdez harbor this summer. Would love to hear where the Great Republic ended up, I remember the ad for that one, cool boat.

Old Republic came from the great lakes area to Washington and got a complete rebuild. New motors, Changed the deck layout, redid the cabin some. It looked and handled great. Once it got sold I don't know where it went. Its like the 27 pilot house that went to Alaska and was never seen again. That one had a raised pilot house then dropped down to a large cabin but had a small back deck. was I/O powered with a v6? . Guy that worked for the state department security bought it here in Washington and then cruised it to Alaska.
