I have a 2004 25 cruiser with a BF135 that needs a repower and we don’t have 20k to put in a boat right now. Boat hull in great shape, new transom in 22. Roadking trailer new in 22 also. Older working electronics. Need advice on asking price please. Thank you! Larkin _________________ Larkin

You should be able to get a 150 Suzuki for about $15K--but inflation may have caught up with the outboards... Ideally the 25 does best with the lighter weight 200 HP.
Figure in the 55 to 60 K range for C Dory 25 with a mid life (600 or so hours). The newer head/holding tank gets a bit of a premium unless the buyer is going to put in a composting toilet.
The 15 to 20 K for a new engine--assuming a good trailer, and the boat is otherwise in good condition--that without a motor you will be in the 40K range. If the trailer is not good, then take off another few thousand/. The new trailer is going to be closer to 10K for the desired Loadrite which has a 7+k weight capacity. There are a few owners who are going to be only dry stack or slip--and they don't want the trailer. (My son keeps his 25 in the water in a slip--so he has to pay for trailer storage monthly... _________________ Bob Austin

I know someone who would buy outboard take-offs for his boat, from when people repowered a bit earlier than necessary, and he’d just put them on himself. You may be able to find a mid-to-late life motor for cheap, or a rebuilt, and put it on there so you’re not just selling a hull. Not saying to do that now, but perhaps it’s an idea to keep in mind if you get stuck and illiquid— could profit from it as well. It’s a risk, though, and lowering the price might be enough with less work. Good luck. _________________ "It's better to be in and wishing you were out, than out and wishing you were in!" |

Why does this boat need a repower?
Yes, a higher HP motor might be nice, but if the existing motor works... |
