Hey all,
I've decided to get a new trailer for the cruiser.
I'm looking at an EZloader aluminum model.
TA102BT 23'-27' 7900# 80" between fenders 99" overall width 30'2" L
TA 96BT 23'-27' 7900# 77" between fenders 96" overall width 30'9 L
Would get spare tire and holder, Elect over Hyd brakes, oil bath hubs, side target bunks, plastic guides for when the trailer is submerged, maybe a ladder.
They're both 9400# GVWR, 4 bunks, torsion axles ST225/75R15D tires.
I'd like feedback on these trailers for a 25' dory. And sanity check.

Hi Glenn,
Long time no hear.
One of the best trailers I’ve owned for 13 trailer boats was made by Sport Trail Boat trailers with aluminum frame and all SS fasteners, much like Float On without the shipping costs from their factory in Vero Beach FL for our Regal 2665 bought in Ocean Springs, MS in 2004.
They may have moved here:

I’ve had an oil bath hub fail after the oil leaked out over grass sight unseen. At least some grease stays in even if its’ cover comes off. Mine were always getting milky, but grease doesn’t care. I’m not convinced of the advantages, though Colby seems to be, and I respect his expertise here.
Get the best upfront and you’ll come out ahead. My new 2015 $9,500 Float On from Wefings would now exceed $17,000.
Best of luck and buy Quality The First Time; you’ll be disappointed less often.

Thanks John,
Food for thought. I kinda sorta wanted to maybe stay at or under 10k. Interesting info on the oil bath. Although I do fear every time I put my trailer into the water I worry the grease would be washed away. Seems like I need to cast a wider net and check other sites for more boat trailer data. So far I've been mostly looking at c brat site.
Facebook is a non starter for me but I can hop my wife's account. |

Many of us have the Load rite: AB26T8400102LTB2. It has the target bunks forward, and they are mostly for guiding the boat of the boat as it is loaded. There is little if any load on these short bunks forward.
Definitely go with Electric over hydraulic brakes, with an in cab controller.
Definitely Sport Trail is an excellent builder and dealer. I ended up with one which was used when the single axle broke (on that lumpy section of I 10 in Mississippi. The owner was able to pull up the VIN and sent me a new plate for it. At least talk to the owner of Sport Trail: 5232 US-90, Bay St Louis, MS 39520
