Hi guys! First time poster and passionately aspiring 22 Cruiser owner here!
Ive been on the hunt for a 22 Cruiser for a few months now. There is one that has been listed in New Bern, NC (about an hour away from me) for a few months now. I am currently trying to contact the owner to see it in person. Getting in touch with him has been a little tricky so far but I was wondering if anyone else on here has seen this boat in person.
It has been listed for a few months now at what seems to be a reasonable price. Very few details or photos of the boat on the listing. After watching lots of Scallywag videos regarding rotten balsa core I am pretty paranoid and want to make sure I proceed carefully with my first Cdory purchase. Considering how long it has been listed, I wouldnt be surprised if a member of this forum has laid eyes on it. If so, would love to hear what you found and what hesitations you may have had.
This boat does appear to have quite a few fishing accessories bolted to it (potential water ingress points) and has bottom paint leading me to believe it was kept in the water at some point during its life.
If I am able to schedule a showing, I plan to show up with a good flashlight and a survey hammer to check for soft spots. Aside from areas around any obvious DIY deck penetrations, hatches, stanchions, etc. are there any common soft spot concern areas? I have been doing lots of research lately but any tips are very welcome!
Thanks for the help!
Note to the moderators: please let me know if this post was located in the wrong section or simply not allowed. I hope any feedback about this specific boat is received as slander towards the seller... im just trying to be careful. |

I am of no help on this boat, but I saw the ad for the 2006 listed in Wilmington and noticed it looked like a really nice, really original package. The only real modification I see is a radio. On a nice trailer. |

Thanks for the reply. I am seriously considering the 06 but would love a chance to at least get a look at the 98 before pulling the trigger. I have seen the 06 in person and it is beautiful. The previous owner did a great job of maintaining it. It does have original 06 Honda 90 with 800 hours but seems like you could get many more hours out of a well maintained Honda. |
